While I enjoy camping and my RTT, I don't like breaking down the tent every time I want to drive somewhere. Not to mention expo trailers are serious #EAF points.

As the title mentions, I built a similar trailer a number of year ago
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/off-road-trailer-build.161648/

I'm looking to improve on some missing features on the last trailer this time around.

    Currently:

    IMG_20180710_203644.jpg

    IMG_20180712_182645.jpg

Started out with an abandoned piece of junk. All I used was the frame and the jack stands. In retrospect, I wish I had gotten longer jack stands, but I'm going to make these work.

    20160818_154835.jpg
    20160818_154828.jpg
    Dimensions:
    70"x 50" frame
3' box height (wishing I had gone with 2.5", but the water tank will eat up a lot of the inside room)
    Stock tacoma leaf springs
    shocks (not yet added)
65" axle (or whatever the axle width on a 2nd gen is)
31"s at the moment, with spare stored on front of trailer
    Electric brakes
    Removable tongue

    Interior Plans:
    30 gal water tank
Dual 36" slides in the rear
one with a yeti 105 cooler
the other with a sink and cabinets
Rear swing out door with fold down table
    Battery and solar set up
    Propane stove
    Propane water heater and shower
1000w inverter (might go with a different size)
2'x2.5'x4' storage space above the water tank
    All doors are weather sealed

    Exterior Plans:
RTT will likely be on adjustable height rack for use with the anex
    Camp lights
Awning will be added at some point

It was about 20 degrees and snowing today, but my dad and I managed to trim down the rear leaf spring bushing mounts and shackles. Lowered the ride height 3-4" and leveled the springs front to rear. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Also added the latches to the rear door and fold down table
    IMG_20180210_180305.jpg

    IMG_20180210_180326.jpg

Setting up the latches this way will allow me to adjust how tight the door squeezes on the weather seal. Also can keep it flush with the rear frame. I still need to clean up the mounts a little.

Still need to relocate the stabilizer jacks....

Here are the latches holding up the rear table

Relocated the stabilizer jacks yesterday and today built the cooler slide. They're 500 lb capacity and travel 36". The cooler is a yeti 105

Next up is probably the water tank or some electrical wiring for lights

Got a little more work done. Built the kitchen slide frame and added the weather seal along the bottom of the back door. Started on the fenders too. Also got the ubolts and hitch straitened out

    IMG_20180225_171239.jpg

    IMG_20180225_171252.jpg

So the framed slide on the left will have a sink on the end with a drawer and storage bin behind it. Above that I'll hang a cabinet from the roof with more storage for cookware.

Water tank will go on the front side of the sides with a false floor on top the tank for the dry storage area

Really like the functionality of the back door and slide outs! When that yeti is fully loaded and slid out, your tongue weight is going to drop a lot lol. That metal trailer probably has pretty good tongue weight though. I have the yeti tundra 75 and when it's fully loaded I can barely lift it into my jeep.

Yah the slide for the cooler will keep me from having to lift it into the trailer and back out. With the water tank being just in front of the axle and the cooler just behind it, it should result in a net positive tongue weight. I'll be honest though, I've just been guestimating on weight distribution so far.....

That's what I have done too. Basically I just lift the tongue and I'm like "that's too heavy" and then I add weight to the rear or vice versa lol. If you ballpark your trailers weight you can kinda tell if it's an appropriate tongue weight. For me, I want the trailer dry to have a pretty light tongue. I have a large area for storage in the tongue. Then I will put my yeti and two 7 gallon water tanks in the front or rear to get the tongue weight where I need it to ensure stability.

Did lots of wiring on the lights and brakes, but I don't think anyone wants to see pictures of wired.

    Here's the current progress

    Water heater
    IMG_20180310_180647.jpg

Water tank mounted. There's a metal strap that goes over the top and holds it down.
    IMG_20180310_180656.jpg

Also built the frame for the kitchen slide
    IMG_20180310_180746.jpg

Also mounted the water pump and built most the frame for the false floor

Yeah I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out too.

I'll have to bring it out to a mod day or something. Or a TW trail/camping run would be better.

Picked up a battery and mounted the solar controller, fuse block, and switch panel. Will mount the power inverter next to the switch panel
