Is anyone really negotiating your vehicle below MSRP?

    How?

I find that Tacomas and 4Runners are so much in demand, that dealers sell the model I want before I can even negotiate a better price.

I haven't seen too many people get below. I think most are happy getting them at MSRP without any mark up market adjustments

Probly depends on where you live.
I got below with no markups or add ons whatsoever.
This is F150 and Ram country though.

i've never paid above MSRP and any dealer B.S. add ons even on my kawasaki mule 4x4 i got last April 2022. Dealer near me wanted $14.5k and got it $9.7k OTD, a few hundred below MSRP with no add ons.
My Rav4 2019 same thing MSRP $27,700 got them down to $21.5k. Lexus RX350 2018 MSRP 53.2k down to $41.8k and recently, 8 days ago today Nov 7, i got a Tacoma 2023 MSRP $41.3k to $38.8k and refund on plane ticket and uber.
this is how i do it.

First, research the vehicle u want, trim, color, packages etc know everything there is to know about the vehicle, this way they'll know that u are serious in getting a car/truck.

I then email all dealership all over the country using KBB. Power of the internet, we no longer have to drive 1hr toa dealership and then get screwed or walk out since we dont want to be screwed.
Dealerships would "always" tell you, "when can you come in?", i tell them i live in florida, i'll come if we agree on the price i'll even put a deposit, even non refundable if we can come to an agreement. Even the local dealers they'd want me to come in, i always tell them, " i'm not driving 30mins - 6+ hrs without an agreed price, put yourselves in my shoes". Some dealers won't entertain you, some will.

We negotiate on the phone or text but i prefer thru phone call to so they'd know i am serious. i asked for an invoice with OTD signed by the manager with the car/trucks VIN. Some will give you that and some won't and some would play games so i tell them that the invoice is needed by Navy Fed so they can issue me a cashiers check. Once i get the invoice signed by the manager i then take it to my local dealer and ask them to match it.

SIDE NOTE: the only time they matched was on the Rav4, they even gave me a car with more packages than the one that sent me the signed invoice since they dont have the exact match but often times my local dealers wouldnt match it.

I then send the signed invoice to the other dealers and see if they'd beat it. Emails, phone negotiations, texts but in the comfort of my home. Some dealers will get back with you and beat the price or give you a car/truck with better package but same price. Every time u get a lower bid, send that bid to the other dealerships and see if they'd beat it, again, from teh comfort of your home. Once you've milked and squeeze every last ounce of discount ( no other dealer would match it) then you can go and put a deposit.

If you're not willing to go fly 6hrs and drive 15hrs, jsut input the search radius you're willing to drive on KBB. I always do the entire country, make a day of it. Like when i got my Lexus in Atlanta, i took the kids to the Atlanta aquarium, Coke factory, Olympic Village, went to stone mountain and ate some local barbecues. I'f rather spend the money making memories with my family than giving it to the dealerships.

This tacoma i got from Maryland. We made a day out of it.

Depends where you buy and what you buy. I got almost $3,000 off MSRP on mine because it was a manual. Place in Tennessee was $5,000 over for the exact same truck.

Another thing, based on my research AutoNation doesnt put dealer b.s add ons, but their doc fee is $899. so use Autonation as your base, they give you the invoice no problem. tHis salesman from autonation tried to insert crap and i told him to take it off. He took it off no problem.

I got $1500 below MSRP on my new 2022 Taco TRD OR Premium Package 6MT last Thursday. Craig Toyota in Madison, IN is the dealership where I got it. I drove three hours to make the deal. I was in and out in around 1 1/2 hours. Great experience.

Only on a few select trims, if you read the fine print.

Thanks! Got an autonation quote today on a White 4Runner SR5 Premium 4x4 w/ 3rd row seat (trading in my 2018 Tacoma TRD OR). Family has grown and need to fit everybody lol

I did also remove the dent and appearance protection, but I kept the floor mats and window tint because I need those anyway lol.

i got husky floor mat from Amazon they were cheaper than the dealer mats.
for $499 tint, get after market ceramic tint dont get that regular tint that's costs $49 and resold for $499.
i just got mine tinted with llumar ceramic tint all glass including winshiled for $500, blocks 99% of UV and 80% infrared, u can leave your truck under the hot sun full day and it wouldnt get hot, regular tint cant do that. spend your money wisely.

Use the quote you received from autonation to have other dealers beat it.
