I thought y'all were overstating it until my truck arrived. The bed is comically slippery. Bed mat is 100% necessary.

Exactly, and that sliperryness is amplified even further if the ADM is not performed, guessing where the bite point is gonna be THIS time...

THAT is why the bed mat mod is mandatory mod...it dampens the Accumulator factory deficiency...

Not dropping, maybe I need to get it hot?

guess I left it in a baggie too long?

I think I literally flipped mine over and it fell out. That is strange.

Yeah, mine was all crusty, this was one of the first mods when I bought it back at the start of the pandemic, back in the days of Triton the pilot dude. Unpacking my accumulator and it was all crystals of ? salt? Dunno. Likely some sort of corrosion starting up. I could soak it in oil? wd-40?

    Air compressor.

Plug one port and pressurize the other one.

    Point away from face...

Maybe a quick, small blast of air into one of the ports would free it up.

I'd try the air like @Firn and @mtip suggested. Not sure what WD-40 would do to hydraulic fluid. You also probably want to look into getting a new o-ring thats under that plate. I'm guessing that melted/corroded and is what is causing it to stick.

The crystals are from the old fluid. The accumulator that I got was like that. No issues down the road though.

I tried blowing on it, lungs too wimpy I guess.

This one is off my truck so 2016, sitting in a bag for a while.

I can hunt for a stronger magnet, weak one didn't pull it. Don't know that I have one though, kids and strong magnets aren't a great combo.

Just give it to the kids. I’m sure after 20 minutes they can have it in 10 pieces

Mine wouldn't fall out either, I used a magnet (from a stiffy phone mount) and it came right out.

Bet I can come close! I spent 45 years in the auto fix it business primarily exotics before I got a "clean" job with a PD that was a 675,000 mile commute over 15 years never owned a car/truck with an automatic. If it aint broke don't fix it unless it makes you feel good.

Not sure what that has to do with the topic, but I do agree with you. I love driving (almost all) MTs (euro cars can go take a drink, wtf)

But I'd venture to say on the vast majority of American (Mopar exception) and Japanese makes/models, circa around 2005 the autos not only because universally faster and smoother, but also more efficient.

Now if you're talking about an 88 Ford ranger then yeah, I'll take three pedals every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

But if you're talking the new Supra, The late model focus ST, even the good generation of Mitsubishi eclipse... The auto was faster. Faster at shifting and driving. That being said, some cars are just a blast and a half with a stick, like a Miata or a GT86 or Galant.

I did say Mopar exception, however, the new 8 speeds in the JL at JT's are miles ahead of their six-speed counterparts. As much as I hate to say, it feels like they design the MTs in those vehicles to be awful just so people wouldn't buy them.

I agree with this….Subaru made the stick in the Outback so bad vs the CVT I would have bought an auto vs another stick had I gone with Subaru again. Ended up in a Tacoma and not looking back.
