    Yep.

I'm tucking mine away for sure.

Although, when my warranty is up I'll probably beat it to death with a 5 pound maul. Ummm that's therapy BTW

So, maybe a dumb question here, but what are the sealing elements on the accumulator? I don't see a gasket on the mating surface to the mounting plate. It seems like the super-simple option would be to gut the thing and re-install it. Even if that required some drilling it could be done for $0. This is 100% on my list of things to do, but I haven't looked at it yet. I'm sure someone probably thought of this but I didn't see it mentioned.

Gutting it, & re-drilling is possible but not feasible. See my evaluation in post #297

Edit: Gasket is internal to the plate. See the last 2 pics in the OP.

 Thank you. I figured there was a good reason we were spending money on a mod that seemed like it could have been done for free!

On the list of parts to pick up when I have time.

*Edit* Saw those pictures but it wasn't exactly clear how that worked. The round clip is just a spacer, and the brown part is obviously the sealing element. Wouldn't that leave a gap and make the seal act like a diaphragm?

kinda. The brass inserts just seal the flared tubes. The black quad seal is the gasket for the actual accumulator chamber. It sits under the plate with the spring directly over it , on the outside, between the plate and the body of the transmission. Basically the fluid travels in one port, up one of the channels to the very thin space between the machined surface and the plate, then down the other channel and out the other port.

My truck is passed the 3 year powertrain warranty (bought in 2015), has full arb lockers, re-geared, an alternate fuse/relay box full of electrical addons, aftermarket sound system, CMC, all different suspension. What I'm trying to say is based on previous experiences for anything warranty related with this truck, is that the dealer is more headache than taking care of it myself, or taking the truck Rogue Offroad becaused @Despized is what I call a Master Toyota Tacoma Technician.

Everything I've replaced/upgraded on the truck was sold, I won't look back. I won't waste another minute at the dealer unless I'm buying a used car for my wife or myself.

That plus that I feel the disk is pulled inward during the engagement to squish the gasket further reduce the flow. This made it into an odd rubber band when I needed to modulate the stroke.

Just a note that your powertrain warranty is something like 96mo/80,000mi?

You're right I goofed that, 3 year 36k is for everything. Every problem I did have they did not fix anyways, well with one exception they replaced my radio because it rebooted all the time a week into ownership. Other than that they were worthless and wasted my valuable time.

This is exactly how I feel. I shift to 1st and try to do a rolling start sometimes. 90% of the time it's garbage and then the rest it somehow works perfectly. Never had an issue in any other vehicle before

Stop and go traffic the most, around town stuff, moving a trailer... and definitely off road, which I do use my truck for. Basically every use case for the truck.

I've driven lots of manuals including 80s and 90s Toyotas, GM stuff, etc etc, and I belive the accumulator style clutch started coming in the early 2000s era industry wide.... It may be "normal" by today's standards, but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck.

If you like your truck as is out of the box, good for you. I don't. Luckily, there are options for both of us to get what we want.

I've never felt more insecure/doubtful about my ability to operate a vehicle more than this truck has made me feel... I thought I was going crazy until I found out I was not alone lol I love this truck, but fuck Toyota at the same time.

Smoothest drive in to work today ever. Every shift the way it should be. It's like I can drive a clutch correctly again.

Right on, I appreciate the feedback :)

Mine gets really slow at about -10C.

Anyone who has done the mod care to comment on pedal stiffness at that temp or below?

I expected the pedal to return faster after I did this, but no change.

It was in the low 30s this morning. Honestly pedal feel is about the same as it was, which is still kinda shitty in my opinion. Control is much better especially at the engagement point, but the pedal still has that slow to return feel.

It wasn't noticably any stiffer or slower than before, but not faster either.
