MT Accumulator Delete Mod (ADM) and BS Thread

Recycle that PoS! Keep the hard line though just in case you need the flare nuts for something down the road.

If anything ever goes TU on the ADM, I would do nothing but fix what is there now. The accumulator is only adding wear to the clutch.

Just wait for the difference in control this next winter.

Question. Why would you shift to First gear while moving?

 

Downshifting to slow down without using the brakes while at slow speeds, shifting from 2nd to 1st in a parking lot, etc.

 

Because I need or want to? 1st is a lonely gear and I have been downshifting smoothly into it since someone said that folks shouldn't when I started driving. It is also something that I do on my bikes, so habit?

 

I think I am going to give up on MT. My knee and shin have been in lots of pain after some 3-4 hour drives recently. I bought the mod to do this delete, but I haven't done it yet.

Will this help relieve some of the pain on my left leg? At 37yo I am a older individual, so I don't think my body can take MT anymore.

Do we happen to have measurements between the bends? It would be nice to just head over to the local auto parts store and have them pre bend a brake line up for me.

 

Sorry, I didn't measure mine when I did it. I am still kicking myself over not getting a pattern to share with the group.

But, it is pretty easy to bend by hand if you are careful. If you don't have a tube bender, use dowel, or hammer handle or piece of PVC pip as a mold. The upper connection kind of wants to lean in to ward the center of the vehicle to line up right. So flex it in by hand, to get a good alignment as you install.

Be sure to get the Armour brand brake line. It has fittings that are long enough to engage the stock Toyota fittings. I found it at O'reilly's
A good method of finding the close bend pattern would be to get an old wire hanger, or maybe a piece of welding wire, the same length as the brake line. Go under the vehicle and get your approximate bend pattern.

Then come back out and bend the brake line on the work bench, or take the pattern to the parts store and have them bend the line for you. See the first post for part numbers and pictures of fitment.

Also, if you do get a good approximate pattern, please share it here for others who may want to work up their own kits.

 

Perfect, the wire hanger is a really great idea! I’m getting 5.29s put in next Monday so hopefully next weekend I will do this mod and get exact measurements for the group. Or maybe a DIY video.

 

One thing to note, If you put the cover back onto the transmission, the rear bend will extend a little bit beyond the shield toward the rear of the vehicle.

I love it. You really don't know how bad it was from the factory until you do this.
