I know that feeling. When I attempted the ADM, the line wrench started to round off the fitting. Thankfully, the ones that I got from Harbor Freight gripped tight. A friend has a '73 Bronco and I worry every time we bleed his old rear brakes.

It is one odd thing around here though. Very little corrosion. We has thousands of 1st Gens running around looking really good. Hahaha!

You are very welcome! The ADM makes me happy on every drive.

For anyone who may experience a leak with the slave connection or would like more insurance with a pre-made line without a unthreaded lead fitting. The leak is caused by the slave cylinder only being threaded partially to allow for a unthreaded portion of the fitting to make the seal. The Toyota fitting has quite a large area of unthreaded lead so I would recommend matching your fitting. Using a dremel (or file), tape to protect the threads, M10x1.0 die and a calliper to match diameter you can produce a matching fit.

The flared end of the line makes the seal, NOT the threads nor the fitting it self. The fitting sandwiches the flared part of the line against the “cone” inside the slave cylinder.

edit: Don’t just take me word for it, take the internets and a fancy illustration.

Yes, but the slave cylinder in the case of our trucks has a fairly deep unthreaded portion that is narrower than the threaded portion. The flared line can't mash against the cone properly because it can't reach it.
I have experienced with this particular leak issue, and had to re-use my original fitting.

This was on the ol ginger, and I did give it as much torque as I dared.
Waaaaay to much to just seat a fitting like this. When I backed it out, you guessed it... the last few threads were being mashed. I didn't want to risk fucking over the slave cylinder.

Ahh gotcha. I had a difficult time comprehending @loosegrip ’s post.

FWIW the “pajx-312” part number from Autozone and other places does not have this issues.

Yeah I had a generic fitting that didn't work out too great lol.
Nice job with the rustproofing, I just dropped my spare a couple days ago and sprayed the whole area. Got inside the winch mechanism with rust check. Because Atlantic Canada rust belt;)

I’m sold on Cosmoline based products, with the exception of where you need creeping abilities! I’d never seen a winch mechanism like the one on this truck before. Very simple and shouldn’t have long term issues. I wasn’t a fan of the traditional systems that coil the cable up inside an enclosed box.

Finally got around to installing the ADM kit from Trident904 this weekend. Definitely a positive change. My tires gave a little chirp when backing out for the first time out of the garage lol. The best thing about this mod is the improved ability to rev match when downshifting. Not sure what took me so long.

Anybody have any issues since having the ADM installed? I carefully tightened the brass fittings until they "stopped" but I'm always worried about applying too much torque to fittings.

Thinking the Hurst core shifter will be coming soon.

No problems here with about 15k on it?

    Enjoy the shifting.

Those flare fittings need more than just a "snug". They are intended to deform a little bit. You don't need ugga-duggas, but you should be able to feel them crush and seat like you would with spark plugs.

No problems here so far. I only have about 10k on mine though.

Definitely recommend the Core shifter! I recently did the ADM with the same parts as tridents kit. I didn’t have any metric line wrenches so I snugged the fittings down with open end wrenches. They don’t need a ton of torque. I’ve got no leaks and haven't needed to re tighten.

    Welcome.

I would give you mine, but I sent it out for the possibility of making a kit. That was not a feasible solution though.

    Why do you want one?

I think mine is still in the garage somewhere.

One of two reasons; see about having some blocks made to replace it (similar to tonered's idea sounds like) and if that fails modify it and make it a quicker swap and have a stealth ADM.
