I did mine on the ground with no lift. If I did it again I would jack the truck up and remove the exhaust support bracket, a couple of the bolts are tough to get at and the bracket blocks you from doing more than a 1/4 turn at a time.
I spent about 2 hours doing mine from start to finish including bleeding and a test drive. Also my underside had been sprayed with fluid film so parts were a bit slick which cost me some time.

I agree big time on removing the cat support bracket. It makes getting at the top shield bolt a lot easier and gives a bunch of extra working room. That bracket and the heat shield were the only two parts that I removed for access.

    No problem.

It is pretty close there. Not too far off.

I was finally able to get quotes on this guy machined out of aluminum, passivated, and with brass inserts. More expensive than the auto parts store parts but cheaper than the pre-bent tube option on here. For 10-25 at a time would be $80 with shipping. Is this something people would be interested in for a direct replacement of the accumulator? The 2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma's have different accumulators, the one pictured is the 3rd.

a guy asked for my old one and i sent it to him for this. since then two more folks asked me if i had it and if would let go of it for a similar purpose.

i don't get it. bypass, flex or hardline, and done. why would you replace it with anything?

Different way of accomplishing the same thing. This is would essentially be a fancy 90 degree fitting that bolts in exactly how the accumulator was, even looks similar, using the same lines and bracket that came with the truck.

I didn't do this method, but I noticed some have. And I didn't see a reference to that tubes part number so I had to look it up. Figured I'd put that info here to save the next person some time.

Yeah what the others said. I jacked my truck up just to make it easier to use my creeper. But even if you could reach in behind the wheel well, it's a really tight space and you have to take out and put back a handful of bolts in various locations and angles and you definitely wouldn't be able to reach those angles from the wheel well. I was spinning around every direction to get my bigger hands up in there.

Also, not only do I also highly recommend to remove that exhaust bracket, I have no idea how anyone would do the mod properly without removing it. I just tried putting the shield back on with the exhaust bracket in place and it was impossible so I took it back off and did it right.

It's definitely one of those auto projects that's essentially not complex or that difficult, it's just super tedious because of the tight space you're working in. If the front drive shaft wasn't in the way it would probably be pretty quick and simple.

Fair point, but it's behind a shield and they won't notice it.

I agree, just sayin'. They probably couldn't tell the difference between AT and MT from under the truck either if they hadn't just driven it into the service bay.

Alright then. You might want to remove the reference to buying that part here and in your other thread just so someone doesn't go down a bad path.

There are people in this thread that have gone this route. Bent the stock tube. This is just additional information for that route. It's definitely useful information related to this mod.

No one has done that. Please gimme just one post of that. It is not useful if it is wrong.

Some MYs of the 2nd Gen could do that because there were two or three different accumulator configurations.

As close to stock as anyone got was salvaging a section of brake line with fittings, cutting it down, forming it, and flaring the new end.

Yeah i dont think anyone has used a stock line for anything other than @tonered into his thing or @MOC221_ who cannibalized the fittings to use on another line.

Right on. I can tell you first hand the accumulator to slave line is too short to make the connection. I was willing to give some benefit of doubt with pics, but this is insane.
