So the dremel method is just that? Put it all back together and no additional hardware?

Yessir. It has been verified that there are no hidden features to the accumulator. The functional part is just that metal diaphragm and seal. So, a good cleaning is all that is needed.

That is a bit of a roadblock. I recently got a Pro skid. It was a small PITA to line up and get all the fasteners started.

I'm actually small enough I can lay under the truck (no lifts or jacks) and prop the front skid up on my knees to get the fasteners started.

Not the greatest way of doing that, but I was able to go full RCI underneath as a one man show

Nice! I also do most all of the work under there without jacking, but getting the bolts started without a jack under the skid just wasn't working. I half think that the fastener retainers are more trouble than they are worth, esp as they steal valuable working clearance.

Not entirely sure what a "fastener retainer" is lol.

FWIW, when I did my OEM Honda hitch replacing a CURT, I used a cardboard box of roughly the correct size to prop up the other end. Made for a quick and easy support and greatly simplified the task. I assume skids would be roughly the same situation.

i assume the little washer things that keep the bolts from falling out aka the things the dealership jacks up when they take off your skid plate so when the put it back on, it doesn't sit flush.

Star push washers that hold the bolt and spacer on the skid. So, the skid needs to be dropped lower than the threaded section to start all the fasteners.

I think those are coming off when I do the next oil change.

Dealership loss rates would definitely be high otherwise.:rofl:

Funny thing though. I didn't find any stripped or over torqued fasteners on the stock skid.

when they did the oil change, they removed the full skid on my truck. a while later i noticed it was cooked and found out one of those retainers moved (they obviously tried to take each bolt completely out). When it got reinstalled, it tightened against the retainer instead of the spacer.

i had the oil canister over torqued af by the dealer. i'm pretty sure they used the drain plug with an impact and went to town.

after that, my truck hasnt been back..

Oh gawd. I would have done the same.

I have been impressed with my dealer. Even the lugs seem to come off what feels like evenly. It is odd actually trusting a dealer, and lately, we have grown to like the ones that we have dealt with. Strange freaking feeling. Given the out of warranty goodwill on Subaru, they will be doing the future service work also. Probably the most difficult sentence I think I ever wrote. LoL!

My last oil change under Toyota care I showed the tech the little plate in my skids that comes out with a half turn of an Allen key and he had no problem with that. But I think the new guy put the tires back on. Half the lug nuts were torqued to kingdom come, the other half I could loosen up by hand right there the dealership parking lot. I let the service manager have it for that one.

We had an a/m skid with a filter access on one of our cars. Using the access hole made more of a mess than just dropping the skid. I may test it using the drain port on the Taco, but I'm guessing that I will just pull the skid.

If I was still going to let the shop do it, I'd probably just drop the skid before taking it in. Hahaha!

One day looking under the truck, I noticed the access port for oil change in the skip plate (pro) was about to fall. Two bolts missing and the other two about to fall. In the next visit I complained about this, and asked for replacement of the missing one. No luck, they didn't have the bolts or would help me. I told them they lost a customer. After some research, I bought a bag of bolts and installed myself.
