The cat is right there. If it was shielding the accumulator, it will shield the line.

I would not run without it, but there are others that have not reinstalled it.

I like your style...I'm sure you'll be fine. The accumulator is enough proof on it's own that Yota bolts up some unnecessary shit sometimes.

I reinstalled the heat shield just because of the line running there. I wanted to protect it just in case. I get into some deeeeeeeeep mud

You’ll be fine. I ran without mine

I eventually put it back on only cuz I live on a gravel road

This is cool, I'm getting a little snippet of some personality types from this:rofl:

And now I know that I let a perfect stranger hook a laptop up to my truck after he pulled in my driveway WITHOUT AN ACCUMULATOR HEAT SHIELD FOR CHRISSAKES.

    Hahahahahaahaha

I usually don't live dangerously, but when I do I drive without my clutch line accumulator heat shield.

I mean..... Mine is on there. Without the top bolt (dropped it while reinstalling, only God knows where it went)

Also uhm...... Deep mud..... Yeah..... It's a thing. Sometimes it sneaks up on you.....

Curious, does it rattle? Cause when I was doing mine it took several tries and more f bombs to get it in. I was ready to say the heck with it but kept after it because I was paranoid about hearing the shield vibrate.

Let me put it this way. I'm not putting it back on ramps just to install the darned shield. If I am under there for something else.

Honestly, I went under when the truck was hot and the heat at the line was very minimal. But rocks and mud......yeah you got a pornt.

BTW - to the casual observer the line looks very stock, with the shield in place. Well, who knew? :)

I do plenty of off roading and I'm not concerned about my shield not being on. Couldn't put it back on if I wanted to anyway, it's long gone.

I can't speak for Toyota, or any company for that matter, but having worked for a large company with undoubtedly similar processes for quite a while I can say that TONS of hard parts/engineering/systems that end up on a piece of machinery comes to pass because of the personality type of the employee calling the shots. There was likely no R & D done on how much that shield drops brake fluid temps, or if it was even necessary.

I'd say the most reliable field testing of whether or not it is needed is being done by a few of you guys.

I personally think it’s more of a gunk shield than a heat shield.

Hmmm, on my '07, the heat shield also covers the inspection port on the bellhousing. I put mine back on just for that reason alone.

Shoot maybe if you leave it off the clutch fluid will warm up a bit quicker on cold days. It was a balmy 0* this morning and damn it took the better part of 6 or so miles to not feel like the system was full of maple syrup.
