MT coilovers with LT parts

This is more of a general truck question since I was curious but is it possible to run MT coilovers with LT parts (UCA, LCA, axles, tie rods). Obviously you wouldn't reach the full potential of the parts but you'd still get more "travel" than with the MT parts due to the longer/wider arc. I'm thinking this would be a good compromise for those that have MT but want to slowly go to LT.

 

They make spacers for extended travel shocks (oem length) that will fit on some LT kits. I don't think you're getting anywhere near the travel, I don't know a whole lot about it, but its basically a strut spacer if I recall.

 

If I did this slow upgrade, I'd probably skip the spacers and just deal with "in between" travel.

 

Nononono I'm not even sure if they would fit. But if the shocks did manage to fit, you would probably break them the first time you moved. The spacers at least put the shock around where it needs to be to prevent serious damage. I would highly recommend you just hold up on installing until you get a set of shocks. Even if you have to grab some random ones in shite condition for a couple hundred bucks, get a quick rebuild on them and throw them on

 

2 words: limit straps.













Unless you want to buy new shocks.
