Wow, surprised I'm the first one back on the board.

I met the guys right at the tick of 9, and we headed off. Remember how Mountainwolfpup said no snow? And I checked out other places, yeah no snow. I forgot to check webcams, but today's doesn't look all that bad, either.

Well, you can't really see the piled up stuff on the side. We were looking for NF 3550, which was supposed to be indicated by a small brown sign. Couldn't find it, but the trusty GPS found NF 3540 and a route to our destination.

Since I had the GPS going, I did the leading. Road was hidden behind a snow embankment, but a little juice got all of us right over. Crossed a small stream, few snow patches, and headed off into the woods.

Didn't take long before snow took over, and kept taking over. Got through the first mess with a little help from my locker. We made it a bit further, and I got stuck again - snow was soft enough that you would dig the front end down to the axle and couldn't plow any more. I put it in reverse and gave a few more goes, but the snow kept gobbling all the power. PacNWgen1 busted out a shovel and we got to work shoveling in some holes and packing things down.

Made it a bit further, but stuck again. Time to chain up. I was able to chain all four corners, the other guys chained their rears. More shoveling ensued, this time with Dwight's folding military shovels as well.

Shoveling, driving, shoveling, driving. I finally got to a dry spot (well, drier spot) and focused on getting everyone else up, but it never happened. We got a big workout on winching single vehicles, multiple vehicles, digging, foraging branches, and breaking recovery gear :D Dwight's winch and my ARB recovery strap were awesome, but Adam's shovel was probably the best tool of the day.

We got to the point where we decided we better work at getting home rather than work at getting further stuck. After more workouts we made it down and busted out the much needed dogs, beer, and conversation.

Got back in, got stuck one last time for good measure, and got our way home.

I still consider it a big success! I learned a bunch on recovery, met some wheeling buddies, and got some more points saved on the GPS for future trips!

Can't wait for the pics & vids!

At about 3 I think there was a winch being used, so we couldn't meet you :p

It probably worked to your advantage to put in the quality time with the GF. I tossed all of my truck's tricks at the road and we still had to turn around - I don't think you would have had too great a time in 2WD. :( Even Barlow looked like it had some solid amounts of snow.

Hey though, many more trips to come! I found another trail up there after we left - dry, and looked super fun! I can't wait!

Well Mike pretty much said it all. It was a really fun time. I was amazed I could even follow the 6 cly 3" lift TRD's in my stock height 2.7l. I was proud of my little truck and drove home dreaming about what to do next on my truck. Met some cool people and hope to go out again soon. Thx for putting it together and getting us up and out there Dwight. Glad you had your GPS Mike. Maybe next time someone should bring a map and compass just in case. Lol

I didn't hear it, and the only dogs he threatened to devour were made by Ball Park. :D

Dwight is hiding with the pics and vids.

pics or not, I don't see why we couldn't go again or plan another trip. Like I said, I found another trail to explore on the way back that was dry... well, I'm hoping it's a trail, I didn't get to explore much because I bent that retarded tin pan that sits in front of the axle by catching it on my chains, and it was rubbing the tire at full lock.
If we need to gather more people, I have some Jeep guys who are ribbing me because they think they could have done a better job without chains

I have stuff going on this weekend, but if you post up a date and a general idea of where you want to go, I can get the ball rolling.
