Figured I would update the thread in case anyone else is thinking about running it. For the most part it is doable in stock rigs and probably 2wd and locker with some skilled driving. There are a couple semi challenging spots to get through mostly just deep ruts and washed out sections easily passable with proper tire placement. I imagine the conditions of the road will continue to degrade as time passes. I do not think the FS has any intention on maintaining the FR27 route given how easy it is coming up the 626. Most likely degrade into a hiking trail over time since it is a popular training spot for grand canyon rim to rim prep. It is incredibly overgrown and you will pinstripe the shit out of your truck even with careful driving. All in all a pretty fun run to over 7000 feet elevation that is reasonably close to town.

Here is a good example of the overgrowth
    [IMG]
The aftermath Thankfully I have a white truck and after a wash you can't really see any marks.

For the most part this is what you're dealing with just slow going up the shale, no crazy steps or ledges to crawl or anything high enough to create clearance issues.

Prob the 2nd or 3rd most difficult part. a deep washed out corner. There was one washed out corner that was a bit more difficult and also had a bit more of exposure of going down the mountain should you get it really wrong.

Good day to be in a first gen. Lol!!
Here's a video. It's kinda long. There's no music it's from my phone ,and the mount was noisy for the first part.

Looks like I hit a little 3 wheel motion at 3:57 and almost bought a new rear bumper at 4:08

Right. I wish I had a better camera. You definitely had a wheel in the air on the very last obstacle.

I've got a 4k wannabe go pro takes nice video, but the mounting screws in on the bottom not the top like the actual go pro. When I use the windshield mount all the video is upside down. I've figured out how to flip the playback on the device but not once downloaded.

I'll try messing around with it this weekend. Headed up north to camp sat night and taking the dirt way in so I'll shoot some footage and try to edit it when I get back

How'd you like it? Definitely less stressful in a first gen.
