MTB Camp & Ride - Knoxville Urban Wilderness and Windrock

If even part of the maybes show up this is going to be a good trip!

 

There’s always a high drop out rate. But I’m hopeful we have a good crowd

Not really. It's a relatively quick climb to the top and all fun on the way down.

But in general everyone should have some fitness for the trip (especially with this advance notice) so we can all maximize our time out there!

 

Not 100% just because I can’t predict how she will be feeling but barring anything unforeseen, yes I will be there.

Jeff is back to full strength!

 

Ok cool, we can do a windrock day then. I’m definitely improved from Pisgah, but still not to the level of any of you guys that were there haha. You think windrock xc climb could be compared to maybe the DuPont climb we did?

Are these the areas you guys recommend riding, or is there elsewhere in Baker Creek to look?

 

That is only one section. Baker Creek and Marie Myers (Year Round Get Down) are components of the entire Knoxville Urban Wilderness. About 75 miles of singletrack. Then we can pedal to the bars on Sevier Ave after our ride (Last trip we pedaled to my house and I shuttled everyone back to the campground). The campground is located off of Trans Farm trail which is the eastern edge of Urban Wilderness.

I’m realizing that now. “Baker creek” is a small section of Knoxville Urban Wilderness.

Just checking out all the trail options.

 

@honda50r - What was that section of trail we rode on Sunday, it was kind of on a ridge and had some jumps / gaps

 

Sharps Ridge - would you recommend that one again? That spot is located directly beside the breweries in town so may be a cool PM ride and chill

There showers or a creek or anything available? End of April will start to get a little spicy out.

 

According to camp website there is a creek, no showers. Porta potty.

Well, you rolled up on me and Chris having a little creek session because you forgot your helmet....so you know I’m in.

 

I just bought skids so I can play in the creek with my truck.

 

I rode the 23-mile big loop at the Knoxville Urban Wilderness last September -- it's a damn good ride with varied terrain. If that's the plan, be prepared for a lot of pedaling. I actually ran dry on water somewhere around mile 16, so the last 7+ miles were extra "fun." The jump lines near the parking lot were excellent, though, so you may want to hit those in the beginning while you're fresh.
