Fyi... I missed what those other straps were for and had to ask. They are to help tighten and straighten the pad across the tsilgaso you don't get that ripple

yeah but if you tighten too much the top won’t sit as flush since it’s a wide tailgate.

been using my dakine dlx for almost a year now and its great. some reviews say the fold up flap acts as a parachute, but theres 2 things to attach it to so i use the one that makes it tighter. my bikes do need to be put in diagonal to work with my factory tonneau cover, but im also on size large bikes with pretty big wheel bases. i can fit 2, maybe 3 big bikes in there with the cover. i can close the cover with the pad on as well. not the tightest fit, only 1 click, but it works. the rear camera works fine, i do see the bottom of the pad when its on there and i follow the instructions from dakine. i could shift it down a bit and i wouldnt see it in the cam and it would look cooler tbh. ive made 2-3 hour drives one way here in colorado with a few bikes back there.

i originally got the fox pad, but it didnt work with the camera as well.

now if only sensus came out with that bachelor pad for a smaller truck... id be all over that.

For anyone doing research on the best pads, the good folks at Outdoor Gear Lab have a pretty thorough review:
    https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/topics/biking/best-tailgate-pad

I ended up going with the RaceFace. Installed it this evening. I like it. But plenty of good options depending on your budget and your need.

I too read that article before I made my purchase. Was about to order the evoc but the RF just seemed better. After using it today, without the straps my bike didn’t even move. The little blocks held it in just fine. Not bad for $160 from Backcountry when you use the 15% discount plus free shipping.

Funny thing. I read that article a month ago. Was about to make a purchase but forgot about it. Then went back to re-read it when I was ready to order. The new review was updated and pointed out the two main criticisms they had of the RaceFace were addressed with the new T2 product. Totally made it worth it for me.

Yeah for the price I compared the two RF and evoc and the evoc looked way thinner and not much padding for the wheel hanging over. Plus I wanted to leave this cover on my truck year around (or at least until it starts raining in winter) and the center hole is perfect. I locked it up though so it will prevent people from stealing it.

The race face pad is thin with no padding on the top inside edge of the truck, had mine wear through on an FSR. And can’t use the camera.

are you referring to the version 1 race face? The new one has a ton of padding and camera access.

Ok looking at the last post from DamGuide with Tonneau Cover on. You guys think if I have 27.5 wheels, I can get away with keeping my tonneau cover on? I have the Backflip Tonneau and I think its a pain to take on and off.

My wife has a street bike that fits fine with the tonneau cover on, I would bet a 27.5 would fit a lot better than my 29.

Don't know when it happened, must have been in the last 2-3 months, but I'm starting to get the tailgate pad wear on my truck. I say 2-3 months because that's the last time I washed my truck. Pad has been on and off, stays on for maybe 2 weeks at a time during heavy riding periods. Small black and brown spots speckled all over the tailgate. Doesn't feel too great. I know there have been warnings, but I always thought the wear started years later and not so quick.

idk about the first aid, but the water setup is a waterport. there are some threads on the waterport, i think in deals and coupons, they were being sold at costco for a min
