I'll go with - "a chainlink shape that is slightly smaller than the main chainlink for a offset look"

    thank you for the solution!

One other thought not sure if it was mentioned...

Longer axle and round spacer to go between the hub and the chain link - ie 150mm axle, 110mm hub, 40mm donut spacer- essentially would function like an extended axle cap. You could the use different spacers for different hub widths.

Haven’t tried it but a thought

Received my order yesterday and installed this morning.
    1. Packaging and build quality are outstanding.
    2. Have a little tire rub on bottom outside lugs of tire (27.5x3.0).
Not enough to prevent full threading of the through axle but worth mentioning. Suspect small spacer/longer axle(?) would fix the issue.
    3. Totally forgot about the pins for the OEM tonneau cover latches. Going to sell the tonneau and move to Softopper anyway but happy to report that pins are not an obstacle.
Net: very happy with the product and you have a winner on your hands @TMCmakes .

Should I get a tracking number or shipping notification email when my order ships?

Haven't seen anything and expected to receive it by now

if you're looking for the through bolts, they're m8 x 20mm i believe. i'll send proper length stuff with your new setup, but they'll probably be silver stainless not black.

Thank you for the kind words. the packaging isn't quite up to snuff yet but glad to hear it made it to you securely.

the little bit of knobbie drag is intentional. it keeps the tire in place so it doesn't spin in the wind and keeps the bouncing to a minimum.

really happy to hear the tonneau pins weren't a problem. wondered what the heck those were in the photo.

Enjoy it and let others on the trailhead know where they can get one when they ask what that amazing setup is all about :)

i considered spacers but they seemed potentially easy to lose and would result in the handle end sticking out more than necessary when running shorter wheels. for anyone that wants that setup i'd be happy to put something together, though! :)

Good to hear that drag was intentional. Absolutely will prevent spinning.

And count on referrals - have already had questions about my mount and expect many more about the WheelDeal.

Yeah. When I was helping test, I was afraid that if the wheel couldn't rest on the bed-side or fender well, one sharp bounce/hit could damage the axle and bend the rotor.

I did a long washboardie road at speed to test, and was happy that the wheel didn't bounce one bit.

Got mine today. The finish quality on this piece is amazing!

Played around a bit, and unfortunately it looks like we can add the Leer 180 Mid Height Cap to problem child list... My 29x2.5WT Maxxis Minion DHF hits the side of the cap and window/screen long before I can get the hub close.

No fault of @TMCmakes - there is no way he could have tested and designed this with every cap option out there, and I knew I was taking a chance it might not work with my set up when I ordered it.

There are two issues I am running into- 1) is the angle of the wheel 2) the height. The angle could be a two fold issue - partly the sides of the cap (the 180 does have fairly angled sides) and potentially partly how the cap is mounted (my 180 mounts to my tracks, and this might be pulling the track upward angling it, which in turn angles the wheel more toward the cap). The height is just due to where the track is mounted, and the angled sides of the 180 play into this as well.

I had had some 1/2" aluminum spacers and longer bolts laying around so I tried that. this got it closer, but still far away--- the angle being the biggest issue.

I've got a couple thoughts on correcting this for my setup -

    1) @TMCmakes original idea of spacing out the "chainlink" is probably my top choice- but I need to play around a bit with how far out it needs to go... will try and pick up some longer bolts so I can try it spaced 1" out.

    2) Make a drop bracket similar to the high-lift mounts out there that both drops the wheel, and spaces the mount out. Gives me some more flexibility with spacing and angle - and if I do it right will let the wheel sit on the bed floor (at least with my current set up).

Totally plan on using this mount in some form or another. Just need to tweak it to fit my set up.

I took a couple photos - should have taken more...

With the tire against the window/screen- note the angle differential between the hub and the chain link

@demo243 thank you for kind words, and thanks for not being a total asshat about fitment. it was a significant fear of mine in the first batch of these but you're handling this like a top notch dude, and that's very much appreciated :)

if you need any help on spacers, let me know. i'm finishing up the design for the 1/2" spacer so i could knock you out something as well if you want, or possibly help with fab on a drop mount if that's more to your tastes as you dig in there.

Thank you so much for your purchase, i'll make sure you're a happy camper :D
