Disk rotor inboard does not work for those with a Cap/Shell where the mount protrudes into the bed.

As for the Tire resting on the wheel well [or the side of the bed] - this would be bad for those running Studded tires.

That was the issue I had for my application. Was going to move the canopy mount toward the tailgate but the damn torx bolt in the bed rail stripped and I couldnt get it out. Only option was to move the mount forward. But didnt want it too far forward which means it is close to the wheel deal. So now I've got the rotor inboard to avoid it contacting the mount. I checked and it won't contact the frame or anything else though so not really an issue.

Re the angle specific to tire width, set one up for 29er with 2.6 tire. That should cover most applications. If you're running wider than 2.6 you just need to smarten up : )

alright guys, finally had a chance to sneak to the shop and prototype some spacers for the guys with toppers. diameter of the spacer matches the main chain link body so it should look pretty sleek once powder coated and installed.

had a moment of brilliance while turning them on the lathe, realized the spacer guys could have a way to hold the axle, so i milled a flat and drill/tapped it for the axle. should be able to point it in any direction you want to orient the axle to store when not in use.

sending this set out to a local Salt Lake rider to beta test with for the next few weeks. if they work, they'll end up as a part# on the website for future customers. anyone that already has a WheelDeal and needs a spacer setup, please PM me and we'll work something out. I want to make sure i'm taking care of you guys that jumped in the pool first. :)

pardon the yellow zip ties, those are to signify "blems" so they don't get sent out accidentally. but they're awesome for testing.

I've got some positive feedback from the guinea pig for the Leer shell spacers @ 2.5" long. looks like a 29 x 2.5 tire/wheel fits great with just a little room to spare on the windows. pics below of the prototype, final versions will be powder coated to match. and the extra threaded hole in the spacer for mounting axles seems to be working exactly as intended.

feedback from my beta tester is that they're working brilliantly. i need to get a few more sets made on the lathe so i can get them on the website for guys with toppers. i think they're going to be about $20 since there's so much darn material in them.

@calzonical send me a DM and i'll get you a set working.

TMC are these spacers official yet? I don’t see them on the website. Would they come with longer mounting bolts to reach all the way to the track?

BattleKat, these are quasi official. the issue i'm running into is there seems to be needs for different length spacers. so i need to either make 1" spacers that would be stackable and sell them in a kit, or make a bunch of different lengths and stock them individually. 1" spacers would be easier, but would lose the ability to hold the axle when not in use, since i wouldn't have enough room to fit the threaded hole. the kit would need different length bolts to accommodate different spacer stacks.

Do you know how long of a spacer you need for your setup?

1.5" is what I need for a spacer. Actually, that is what I need from the utility track. I don't know how thick the mount you offer is already.

Transparency, I am looking at 3 options:
    1. totally homegrown frankenstein solution I can do for about $10 but it won't look pretty but would be functional
    2. A hybrid route where I buy a similar product for $40 and add about $5 in add on parts I buy myself for $45
    3. Your solution for the $50 base price plus the cost of spacers which sounds like would be about $70. The thing is I am planning to use drop in t-track nuts from Hondo Garage becasue I don't want to deal with my topper mount utility track to get your utility track piece in place.

TMC how thick is the part you sell that goes on the outside of the utility track that the thru hole axle piece gets screwed into? That impacts my response.

The main body of the unit is 0.500" thick. so then it sounds like you need 1" spacers?

out of curiosity, what's the $40 product?

i have been considering drop in T-nuts but haven't had the time to test with them at all. the Hondo Garage design is pretty standard, but it uses SAE bolts instead of metric. 5/16" will fit through the holes of the WheelDeal, just a little more clearance than the metric hardware i'm using.

I will double check next time I am putting my bike in the bed and have the wheel off, but yes I think 1" spacer would do the trick. I held up a 2x4 piece for spacing over the weekend to see if that would get the wheel to clear everything and it did, and Imeasure the thickness of the 2x4 this morning and it comes in at 1.5" thick.

I willl send you a PM on the alternate product.

Having the ability to hold the axle is cool, but I'll probably continue to stow the axle in the bed cubbie when not in use.

looks like everyone so far is on board with a stackable kit. i'll let the poll run for a few more days and then draw something up and cut some prototypes on the lathe. the good news on 1" and 1/2" spacers is they're really easy to cut. not having to do the mill setup for the flat and threaded hole for the axle will keep costs down for sure.

Nice! was trying to figure out a way to secure my wheel when in transport. Will need to pick one up soon. Also followed and tagged a local bike shop on IG!

first batch of 1" spacers on the lathe. they still need powder coat and i still need to get the 1/2" spacers done.
