That I do have, thanks. I'd just need to get a regulator and hose rig.

On Deavers website they only show springs for a 98 Tacoma and above. How would I go about making them suitable for my 96?

So I finally finished my set up and have pretty solid flex but.... quite a shitty ride at speed and hardly any compression. How much up travel do you guys have with a spring over and shackle flip?

Alcan 2 inch lift w 200lb and half inch longer at shackle end
Archive garage shackle flip with 6inch shackles
    Bamf relocate and 2.0 12"kings
Wheelers superbumps set to just let the springs go negative a bit

Edit: I still need to add some lift up front to even things out

    Yes
If you have 200 over springs and an empty bed it is going to ride like shit buddy. A 200 over leaf pack is intended to maintain ride height and support / flex accordingly with that 200 lbs of weight. It would be the same result if you took out your 600lb springs in the front and put an 800 lb spring in...

The only way to make expo springs ride comfortable for a daily driver is to always have that weight in the bed.

True, valid point.... i really havent driven with only 200lbs in the bed. I know with a quad in the back it pretty much rides the bumpstops but thats about 160lbs over weight.
As for 600 to 800...i actually have 700s up front and whatever preload was on them from the factory. Actually pretty soft.

With the bamf kit, shackle flip and longer shackles, at ride ht I am sitting at just about 50/50 up/down travel on the shock. Took a little playing around to get it there, but it rides beautifully at speed and has plenty of flex. A little rough driving around town, but I've said it a few times before, you're not doing all this work for that, you want it to perform offroad.

I'd agree with @Evenflow and day you either need to add weight permanently to the bed, or go with some different springs. Otherwise you will never be happy with it.

And I'm not sure how you mounted your lower shock mount or bump stops, but you should be nowhere near them with a quad in the back. Especially with that stiff of springs. I've ran with bikes/ quads/ fully loaded before and not been near the bumps. So something doesn't sound right unless it was a 1000lb quad

At full flex i have about 11.75 inches of shock rod showing and on the compressed side around .75 showing.
My lower mounts are about even with the axle centerline. At ride height, no weight in the bed i only have around 4 inches available up travel. I built a 2 3/4 bumpstop extension to keep springs from going too negative.

I did buy a second set of axle mounts because i originally thought they were too high but it seemed to work with the bump setup.
Can i see a pic of your lower mount? I dont want my shock to be the limiting factor here but i think without longer shocks it is.

Well your flex number is about the same as mine. But I set my bump ht to allow it to get within .5". My lower shock mounts have the eyelet pretty much level with the bottom of the axle. Sorry for the crappy pic and dirty truckimage.jpg

But like I said, with my longer shackles at ride ht I'm almost 50/50 up/down travel and have 5.75" of shock shaft showing. And at full droop it's my springs that are limiting it from getting that last little bit. Im running the allpro stds

Where did you get your shocks from? Were they valved at all?

It sounds like you have it set up properly, up travel is always going to be less on a spring over configuration...there is no perfect set up with leafs you are always going to give up something to gain another.

exactly...get the weight that is going to be in the bed, in the bed and see how it handles. from there maybe decide if valving can help you out, or if the leafs need to be swapped out for a different rate. for me and what i usually carry on a wheeling trip, my set up does what i want it to for me. if i was full overland or desert runner i would have it set up slightly differently

Yeah I got them from DSM and just described my setup and use. I've been running them stiffened up a bit w/ the adjusters but not sure what valving I have. I'll load a few hundred pounds up and see how it does. I'm picky and want perfect lol. Your totally right about leafs and gaining or losing in one area or the other.

So on another topic... How much preload do you guys run upfront? I haven't added a Winch yet but I'm sitting down in the front around an inch or so I'd guess. I only have 5 threads or so showing on my kings and 700lb coils.

Just got off the road from a 12 hour highway and back road rode for vacation. Now I remember why I set the truck up with Dakars: fully loaded it rides like my grandfather's old Cadillac on the highway, and handles crappy back roads with easy.

(Real off-road is great too, just none of it on this trip, yet).

For the front I would recommend the TGs, they are seeing a LOT more force on them than rears due to the leverage from the arm. For the rear, any 4 ply should work, I have Kartek.
