Kinda bringing a thread back to life. Been to yellowstone last year. Been to the tetons twice and loved it all. The geysers and pools in yellowstone were awesome. Hiking in the tetons was a never forgettable experience(both times)

The hiking in Grand is awesome! I love that you just get to stare at the mountains on most of the trails, sort of motivating having them there. Admire the mountains, then get into a forested area and lose sight of them, hurry through that so you can get another glimpse of the mountains again...

If you liked hiking in Grand you need to hit up Glacier Park someday too. Lots of trails and amazing scenery there.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Is there any places to ride ATVs in those areas?

ATV's in the parks? No. But hte areas surrounding the parks, yes.
I know of a few areas outside of Yellowstone and Grand that would be open to ATV's. Lots of old logging roads around the park, they've cut right up to the boundary in a lot of places.

Also...I was sorting through some of my pictures last night and just couldn't take it anymore! I had to go back to the park! So I went down to Mammoth today. Didn't see much but the terraces do look pretty cool in the winter

    Be :jellydance:

Thanks, that's sort of become my signature shot. It started out as a joke - a "I wish you were here" shot I sent to a friend who had to cancel on a trip a few years back. Now its a personal challenge of mine that I try to get similar shots whenever possible. They're harder to get than you'd think! Sun low on the horizon at your back, interesting background, flat or gently sloping foreground...it takes a little work.

That's cool! Never had the chance to go to yellowstone in the winter, don't a bunch of the roads close down though? I was up in the Kalispell area last week and the going to the sun road in Glacier was still open according to the signs but I was on a schedule so I didn't have time to go see. :(

I haven't been on that road since I was 9 years old. It is a requirement for next summer though regardless!

Its a good show. They follow Tom on one of his winter treks through the park. Hes done several solo treks across the park over the years. Very interesting guy.
