I think that's the same spot behind Flagg Ranch where I stayed last fall - 2 sites, right where two channels of the river come together? Great spot, little bit of road noise from the main park road but it wasn't bad. Nice and peaceful, great sunset. No mooses though. If I was a moose I'd want to live there!

I camped up the road a ways, just stopped at the bridge to take a pic or two on the way out, I camped on the side of the road not in a spot.

I said the same thing, really surprised I didn't see a moose there as well!

The Flagg Ranch area is a favorite of mine as well. I thought it was a secret! Don't you love it when someone asks for directions to the "gross adventure"? Haha.

I still have my "secret-secret" spots :spy:
You heading to the Bighorns again? I'm thinking of making another trek down there - want more time to explore!

I love giving people directions down there when it involves the Gros Venture junction....none of them can find it on a map

Planning on visiting or just here to live vicariously through everyone else's adventures?

It's such a beautiful spot. If it weren't so cold, I'd have dug out a chair and sat down for a bit ;)

pshhhh....cold is a relative thing in the park. always colder there! always!

its rough when i'm out taking photos early in the morning. my camera lenses and camera body are all metal and when they've spend the night in the truck they get cold and stay cold for a long time. tough holding onto the camera trying to get a shot when your hands are going numb!

That was an October pic. It was a bit chilly :) But yes, light weight gloves are a great help. Lowe make a camera friendly one too. We had just closed out Glacier, headed down to Yellowstone/Grand Teton and finished up in Jackson Hole.

Oh yeah! Headed back to the Horns in June. I usually go the last week of June. I think this will be either my 20th or 21st year going there. Hope to see you again. You know where I'll be camped. You're welcome for sure!

I was thinking late June or early July too. Last year was still a little snowy/muddy and I couldn't get around as easily as I'd like. I know where to find ya! Maybe I should wait until you get there to get a run down on the road conditions from you

New job = no paid vacation :goingcrazy:
Well stay tuned and we'll see how things pan out.

Saw the caretaker story earlier. Very cool. I dont know if i could handle the solitude but having access to the park seven days a week all winter long would be awesome! I probably wouldn't get much work done though :anonymous:

The sad part is he started out with a family and all of them have moved on. He's been at it a long time so I'm guessing he's used to the solitude now.

That'll work. Remind me to PM you my cell #. I usually drive to where I can get a cell signal and check messages every couple of days. Your trip sounds awesome.
