It all depends on the weather

They need a good cold snap to get them in the mood just like me.

    where exactly were you?
I would imagine so. I was out a couple weeks ago and heard a few, not a lot. I usually camp in Mammoth in mid October and as long as there's a little moonlight the boys talk all night long. Kinda cool and annoying at the same time.

was in the 50's/30's last week...and in the 80's/40's this week. hard to say what they'll be up to

pedal bike or motor bike? if pedal i suggest coming out the first of April. The roads are still closed to vehicles the first two weeks of April but they do allow bikers in - the only other traffic on the roads then is park vehicles/plows. none of the services are open at that time so you're totally on your own once you're in the park. but you'd have the place pretty much to yourself!

I'm just trying to figure out what hunting has to do with Yellowstone seeing as how it would be illegal and all....plus I'm very protective of my mooses

If you read my post I said I was near Black Butte. Nowhere near jellystone. No need to get defensive.

What was the moose hunting for? How did it hold the bow?

Just got back from Yellowstone last week; first visit there. The tourists were disappointing to say the least. Saw a bear on the side of the road eating berries and people stopped and ran over to it to take pics with their stupid selfie sticks. Fortunately the bear just ran the other way once they got close. In fact, I've never seen so many selfie sticks before in my life. And the cologne everywhere we stopped was overpowering. Finally got fed up and went for a hike up to Observation Peak to get away from all of the idiots. Those rangers have their hands full! Except for the tourists, the park is beautiful and I'd love to go back in the winter.

You're starting to sound like me. All you can do is correct folks bad behavior or find a ranger and let them deal with it. I find that taking pics of the offenders helps. Sooner or later people's stupidity will get the better of them...
Hope you enjoyed your trip regardless - let's see some pics!

Honestly I've never seen people act like they did at Yellowstone around the wildlife. The rangers even give you instructions on a bright piece of orange paper what not to do. They should make people apply for permits to enter the park lol. When we were stopped in traffic at the bear sighting we told the people next to my truck to get back in their vehicle; they just ignored us. A ranger a couple of miles back was literally yelling at people to get the hell back in their cars because they were all out milling along the road trying to catch a glimpse of a bear. So sad...

We made several stops based on your recommendations. The Grizzly and Wolf center was amazing, and I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a wolf through the trees as I was leaving the park last Wednesday.

I'll post up a link to my Imgur album once I go through the 1200+ pics that we took!

I quit worrying about others when I began to realize that no matter what you say, they proceed with Darwinian precision. I mean wtf? You see the signs everywhere. They gave you explicit instructions at the entrance, and you probably got more hints from the rangers.

Only thing wrong with that, is the animal pays for the humans stupidity. Think what happened to the grizzly a few months ago :pout:  I agree with what you are saying, as long as the animal doesn't have to pay with his life. Or should I say, too bad it takes so long for Darwin to "win"

City people and wildlife really don`t mix for the most.

Having spent the better part of a day up a tree Because of one of those nice Fuzzy Grizzly Bears I Am just glad they have not yet learned how to run chain saws .

Yes both Parks are so much more peaceful in the winter.

I'm referring to the people; but I do hear (and agree with) you regarding the animals.

And bigger picture, people's stupidity costs everyone.

Thanks for posting this thread! I just got back from Yellowstone with the family and it was amazing. Haven't been in 18 years and it definitely has changed. We couldn't find any moose or bears which was a bummer, but loved it anyways.
