    I seem to remember the guy that was just "Darwined" by a bear in jellystone had loads of experience but went out on his own, off trail and without bear spray. Everyone was puzzled as to why.

    I think you're recalling this one. ^^^^

    Yep. Hard to tell exactly how it went down with no eyewitness. My gut says he surprised the mom and she perceived him a threat to her cubs; then coincidentally they (mom and cubs) were starving, so the consumption and cacheing was convenient for survival instincts. As to his (victim) actions and why, we'll likely never know.

    all of the above! Snowed Saturday, was windy all night, and rained today. Was oddly warm at night though. Was 40 something this morning

    Fleece jammies, long johns, wool socks, and a -10 bag. All of which I could have done without.
    Alcohol was being consumed...in moderation
    brr... I've been down there snowshoeing on new years and it's freakin cold in the day, can't imagine nightime

    At least I got to practice my winter driving... This is between Norris and Canyon, plow truck up ahead. I'm glad traffic was light - they don't SAND the roads they GRAVEL the roads! Was chucking rocks everywhere!
    And it was a busy day at Old Faithful today!

    Meh...I don't stand around waiting for the geyser, I like to walk around on geyser hill to the north. If OF goes off while I'm there I'll pause, if not...well, I've seen it before!

    I got to OF at 7 am when I was there a month ago and there was no one in the parking lot. It was so nice but of course we missed the eruption by 10 min. Oh well, took off to find some moose.

    Moose in the park are tricky to find. I usually luck out around Pebble Creek in the NE corner or along Highway 191 between West Yellowstone and Big Sky. Did you find any?
    I've seen OF hundreds of times (not an exaggeration) so I don't get all excited about it. If you haven't seen it before its worth waiting for.


    In other news...today is officially the last day of the season, roads close at 8am tomorrow. :pout: Only 166 days until opening weekend in April! :pout:
