Thanks to the cool weather, rain, and hard work of the fire crews the fire restrictions are down to just stage 1  heading down tomorrow to check on things (haven't been thru most of the park since July  ). Campfires and s'mores will be had!

No. Wreck was a head on between an SUV and a truck/trailer. Not sure who won - no serious injuries as I didn't see any ambulances on scene. Watched fire crews work the Maple Fire while I was stuck in the 3mile long traffic jam.

Ok, let's see if I can do this.....
My daughter recently moved to West Yellowstone, and I've never been anywhere near there.
So we loaded up the truck with a dining room table, 4 chairs, 2 dogs and some camping stuff.
Headed out to Yellowstone, via the Grand Tetons.

1st overnight stop. Angel Lake, Wells Nevada..... Elevation 8400.
    image.jpg

Next day passing through Jackson Hole, saw some Bison.

    image.jpg

We arrived in the Tetons late in the day and all campgrounds were full.

So we headed up to Pacific Creek campground, which was 10 miles up a dirt road into Bridger-Teton National forest. Not a lot folks up there

    Moose sighting on way up.
    image.jpg
    image.jpg
Next day, wind shifted. Smoke from nearby fire choked out the Tetons.
So no pics, as we booked it out of there to West Yellowstone.
Once there, stayed at my daughters place and made early morning day trips into park.
    image.jpg
image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Explored outside the park in afternoons.
Ghost pine trail, out to Earthquake lake.image.jpg image.jpg And the trusty Tacoma, along the Madison River.

It was disappointing to get smoked out of the Tetons, but we can go back.

I knew about geysers and hot springs in Yellowstone, but wow.
They're everywhere. Water, just boiling out the ground...everywhere.
Special place. Can't wait to go back.

glad you enjoyed your first trip up here! i hope you were minding your bear country p's and q's at pacific creek - major bear territory there. and probably why there weren't a lot of folks there.
and you were probably lucky to make it through with the fires - the road has been closed a few times now! need some snow to quiet them down
