Who wants to see video of a touron getting trampled by a buffalo?

Tourons season is in full force. The examples of stupidity I witnessed this weekend alone gives me no hope for the future of the human race...

    Tourons want a bison selfie
    _MG_5629.jpg
Bison says "fuck off", tourons flee
    _MG_5630.jpg
Bison goes back to munching on some grass. Tourons return to the touron bus in search of new underpants
    _MG_5632.jpg

Weesa is sad, she was rooting for the bison :(

touron forgets how to use the zoom feature on his camera phone so he walks right past a "danger thermal area" sign. daughter/wife (in the blue and green) join him. they are greeted by angry Weesa upon returning to the boardwalk.

Great info in this thread, thanks.

Wife and I are visiting Yellowstone end of this week and into next week. Weather forecast looks to be interesting - glad we're not tent camping. We'll do our best to not be tourons!

What an awesome thread! I am very jealous of your locale.

My wife and I stayed with my aunt and uncle at their place in Emigrant, MT last week and they showed us around the park for a few days. They go in about every day and take pictures of the wildlife.

This was my favorite picture I got when we stopped at the Rustic Falls above Mammoth after it started raining while we were watching the Obsidian sow and her coys.

But for me its the expanse of mountains that i really like. I need to slow down and take better pictures. My composition sucks and doesn’t reflect what i find most amazing.

I was also impressed with the way the colors at the falls were so vivid and varied. That one i got the shot but that was because its all setup for me just standing at artist point.

We had a great trip, returned just before Memorial Day weekend. LOTS of Asian tourists. I can only imagine what the place is like in mid-season.

Weather in the high 30's to mid-40's most of the time, cloudy and snow flurries / rain now and again. We were well prepared in terms of clothing/gear so were comfortable. It was kinda neat to see the geothermal features in the cold -- though the trade-off being the warm steam / cold air tended to obscure stuff like the Grand Prismatic Spring.

Couple of pics from the tons I took. Note: wildlife photos were with a very long lens.

Yes but most of the sites don't work with the tents. The parking pads at each site are narrow and really unlevel. I'd guess only about a third are RTT compatible and then it's 50/50 depending on which side your ladder comes down (1 lane camp road with no room to turn around).
Camping at Jenny and waking up to stroll around the lake first thing before the crowds show up is so amazing - take a chance on it and hope that you luck out to get a good site.
