I've been checking in on some of your thread. I haven't read but maybe 15-20% of it. What I have read is really good stuff. Great Job!
My wife and I are flying in from North Carolina next Monday September 16th. Were flying into Jackson Hole and staying in West Yellowstone Montana.
It looked like the best area to stay as it was about mid ways on the Park loop. My plan is to drive either the upper or lower loop one day and the other the next.
Then take a day to catch up on what we missed. Then drive back down to Jackson Hole for a day or so to check out the Grand Tetons before flying back.
I have 2 questions if you have a minute to answer.
I have been checking the extended Weather forecast but its always kind of vague.
What might we expect temperature wise day and nigh this time of year?
And if you might know what is the best route to take from Jackson Hole to West Yellowstone? Hwy #191 then through the lower loop of the park?
Or Hwy #33/32 then Hwy #20? Both appear to be about the same travel time 2:45 min. But which would be a better ride? View, traffic, etc?

I like the 191 route, but thats the only one Ive driven from Teton to Yelly... If you go 191, take the turn into and thru Teton, it comes back out on the main road. (I'll be in Yelly this weekend too, leaving Tuesday)

Theres also the Elk Refuge and Fish Hatchery just south of the airport but north of 'downtown' Jackson.

I know the 7 day car pass for $25 for Yellowstone also covers Grand Tetons Park. If I turn through Grand Tetons 1st and pay for the car pass will it also cover Yellowstone?

This time of year is tricky. Last week we were 92F. The last three days it's been chilly and raining nonstop. Nights may dip down to 40F or less. Bring layers if you're not accustomed to cold. We've seen snow already at 8k-9k feet.

Day time temps could still see 65-80 depending on weather systems that blow through. Hard to say up here.

That said, the valleys between mountains here create unique weather patterns. One town can be 50F and a few miles away could be 70F.

West Yellowstone is a great little town. Though winters get cold there. They're usually a bit colder than Bozeman where @MTgirl and I live. It's a great launching pad to see YNP or Tetons though!

that I do not know. Some parks that are close to each other honor the other park's pass. If you'll be visiting one more park in the next 12 months, the annual pass is your better value. 3 parks entrance fees is more than the pass...

There's a $25 pass? It was $35 in May this year driving up into GTNP from Jackson.

... and another $35 for Yellowstone as we passed from GTNP into YNP.

We saw no indication of one covering the other.

If you decide to just pay the park entrance fee, keep that receipt! (you'll need it for repeated entrances during your visit) But it can also be used as a credit towards the purchase of the annual pass later.
