Noticed the question on the 2nd gen forum about whether to keep them or not, but my situation is that my '97 4x4 doesn't have any, and I'm pondering putting some on.

I've considered 2wd flaps, since they don't have the "4x4" lettering on them, but are they the same size, or are the real 4x4 ones longer?

Stock - built correct from the start.
4x4 flaps have a longer bracket and are longer than 2wd. Prerunners have the long ones but they don't have 4x4 or 4wd on them. I got brackets at a yard from a 2wd and hung my flaps because I couldn't find the 4x4 ones.
