    If I remove my oem mud flaps on the front and rear will it make my truck faster and increase MPG’s?? I noticed their shape seems like they would trap wind….

    Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    Compare the calculated average MPG for 6 full tanks before, and then 6 full tanks after. Report back and let us know if it's appreciably different. I suspect it won't be.

    To be honest, the mpg already isn’t that great on the trucks with all the stuff we add on to it and the mud guards would prob show almost no change.

    the drag coefficient of the truck itself far outweighs the effects on the mud flaps.
    Also, that V6 isn't fast enough for it to matter.

    Thanks for all the feedback. It seems Toyota missed the mark with a design flaw…wouldn’t it make more sense to have them flared facing back instead of forward? That way you get the speed, you get the +MPG’s and you get the truck protection some have mentioned

    I think the tire would break the wind and the flap would continue the flow. You look at the aero helmets and that seems to be how it works?

    Anybody make their own mud flaps?
    Been debating on finding some generic truck flap or conveyor belt material and cutting my own the be on par with the simple classic toyota truck flaps of old.
