Why do retailers say curved nerf bars won’t work with mud flaps?

They work. SR5 DCSB with fender flares, OEM mudflaps, and Lund 5" curved oval nerf bars.

I’ve got SR5 DCSB with fender flares also, I have OEM mud flaps. RealTruck says curved nerf bars won’t work, have to use straight nerf bars. I was very confused as to why.

Here are my nerf bars. The OEM mud flaps not in the pic, I added them later. You can see these are curved. Lund 5 inch curved ovals. Part # 23884295
