mud flaps, on or off?

front flaps off for looks and a strip of spray on bed liner for protection

 

Mine's the same. They were rubbing so off they came.

 

I vote for OFF cause mine are really pissing me off getting caught up in deep snow.

 

looks clean with them off, though i am sure with a lift you might keep em on so you don't bust out to many windshields and sorts.

I still have my back ones on. They will probably stay.

 

Rear are fine, the front ones sux. Took them off within 2 weeks...

 

There should be an option to vote for front "off" and rear "on" That's my VOTE!

 

Looks better off -Keeps paint looking good when on. Having said that - the 1st time you drive thru 2 ft deep snow or do some rock crawling (or drive over a sidewalk) you will probably lose them- and they ain't cheap to replace! If you want to attempt any of the above fun activities cut them back by at least 1/2 or take them off until you get bored with the above or get pissed at the pitted paintjob.

 

I vote "take them off and buy some sliders if you are worried about rock chips."

 

On for courtesy and protection.

Courtesy of others behind you. It's bad when you fling up a rock and break a windshield.

Protection of the body from stones, splashes, etc.


I did cut mine shorter though because stock ones are about 7 feet long.

 

28-958.01. Rear fender splash guards
A. A person shall not operate a truck, trailer, semitrailer or bus on a highway unless the vehicle is equipped with rear fender splash guards that comply with the specifications provided in this section.
B. The splash guards:
1. Shall be attached in a manner that prevents the splashing of mud or water on the windshield of other motor vehicles.
2. Shall extend to a length of not more than eight inches from the ground.
3. Shall be wide enough to cover the full tread or treads of the tires being protected.
4. Shall be installed close enough to the tread surface of the tire or wheel to control the side throw of the bulk of the thrown road surface material.
5. May be constructed of a flexible rubberized material.
6. Shall be attached in a manner that, regardless of movement either in the splash guards or the vehicle, the splash guards retain their general parallel relationship to the tread surface of the tire or wheel under all ordinary operating conditions.
C. This section does not apply to:
1. A vehicle commonly known as a pickup truck with a manufacturer's rating of three-quarter ton or less, except that this section applies if the pickup truck has been modified from the original bumper height design to raise the center of gravity of the pickup truck.
2. A truck tractor or converter dolly when used in combination with another vehicle.
3. A single axle trailer with fenders wide enough to cover the full tread or treads of the tires being protected and that extend to a length of not more than fourteen inches from the ground

i say off... it looks sportier without and you dont have to worry bout hitting the mudflaps on anything... thats why i took mine off

 

I'm like Firefighter. I had to take my front ones off when I got my wheels and the 265/75's because of the rub, but I left the back ones on because I like the 4x4 logo. I like for people to know it's a 4 wheel drive. My wheels are 16x10 and I still have a little bit of a rub when in reverse, but it's not too bad. I kind of like the looks of them with the flaps on though.

so i was messing around one day and was trying to get the rivets off without snapping them.... didnt work to well i stoped after i broke the first one, how do u get them off without destroying them lol

 

take off your tire, use a screwdriver to take out the screws..should be good!

 

Hard decision. Looks tough without them but you also get alot of paint chips...

 

My front flaps are off after bigger tires and lift, rear flaps are still on. i like the look with the front ones off.
