you know whats annoying when there is a truck/car on a road infront of you and have no Mud Flaps. And tiny rocks are being thrown all over your winshield from the truck infront of u. I used to hate that when I had a 08 CIVIC SI.

I like the look w/out the flaps. but since you have AT or pretty much any offroad tire for that matter there gonna pic up small rocks and sling em up and scratch the truck so I say trimmed.

On, if you are hitting the highway on a daily basis and off if you like doing trails. You would be surprised how quick they can easily be removed by good ol Mother Nature.

On my '05 Taco, the mud flaps were soon coming off... not from me, but from off roading. They are too close to the tire and ground... The tires will 'pinch' against the mud flap and pull it right off the truck when driving over gullies or against rocks. I would re-attach them... but the final blow was when MUD actually caused them to come off! The weight of a salt flat/ dry lake mud (that wasn't so dry) ripped the mud flaps off the truck!
I just traded the '05 for a 2010... and see no improvement in the design or attachment of this weak item.

Also a bit sad that the only thing that identifies a Taco with 4WD is the mud flaps! How come Tundras get a 4WD chrome plaque in the back?

Even without off roading the fronts will eventually rip off; had it happened to me and my buddy. I’ve also seen tacos on the freeway doing about 75mph with the front mud flats bending substantially due to wind resistance. I’m surprised there isn’t a TSB for this.

I lost one of my front flaps just with highway driving. Didn't know what happened at first until I saw another Tacoma on the highway with the front flaps bending like crazy. I decided to take off the other one when I got home.
