Assume they are not ideal for the offroaders? Do they prevent stone chips??

Yes they would help with stone chips, but the stock ones are hard plastic and will get ripped off while four wheeling when you drop of rocks and edges. I recommend getting after market rubber ones so they just bend out of the way.

I don't know yet, II haven't looked into it for mine since it's not here yet. I'm not sure if they are the same size and mount points as 2nd Gen or 1st

Thanks! Being that they are made of rubber made it very easy to decide on mud flaps for the rear. Have been thinking about getting some 1st gens for the front.

I say keep them, at least the rears. I took my fronts off because I hated when I saw another Tacoma on the road next to me with those 2 foot long front mudflaps flopping in the wind. Aftermarket or OEM, the rear mudflaps are a courtesy for fellow drivers that we share the road with. Chipped windshields suck and as any two wheeled rider with an open face helmet will tell you, getting hit in the mouth by a tiny pebble while on the freeway feels like getting kicked by Ant-Man.

They come with clear bra which is over thicker paint on the lower edge of the truck as well as a plastic 'chip guard' on the lower rear fender.

You don't have to get the 3M protection film in order to get that clear film guard behind the wheels? It comes like that with all tacomas?

I now run trimmed front mud flaps but don't have any on the rear. I did some serious damage to my trucks paint on the doors by not having mud flaps on front and driving fast on gravely roads for untold 100's of miles on a single trip. Oops!

So do all off roads come with the clear cost or chip guard? Or do you have to get the flaps to get them? Can you order the guards from the dealer without the flaps? Definitely have to find some rubber ones.

Dealer cannot find 3rd Gen. Mudgaurds?!?!?!?!? Says 2nd's won't fit properly. Can anyone help on how to locate factory new Toyota gaurds. Absolutely insane they cannot just order from the factory and have them overnited!?!?!!!! I travel dirt and gravel roads and want them for the chips. Not into off roading and want to stay with the OEM.
