I took mine off but I'm gonna put'em back on. It's been raining here and all the debris that my tires have been kicking off have now stuck on my truck!

They're pretty handy for rural guys though, because they are placed behind the wheels which prevents mud and debris from being thrown against the body of the truck.

Does anyone have pictures of this fender flare paint damage? I have looked through 10 pages of threads searching "mud flaps" and "mud flaps fender flares" and haven't found a picture.

Couldnt you just put some spray rubber or thick tape or something in-between the flares and flaps?

EDIT: Just realized - Multi-year thread resurrection...

Tire size isint going to matter when your not running mudflaps. Any tire will kick up rocks and crap from the road. It will eat at the paint and tear up other vehicles behind you.

I have mine off, only removed them because they are just so long. Since they have been off, I my truck doesn't stay as clean but luckily I haven't gotten any chips. I'm thinking of getting the Husky mud flaps.

I just took mine off but are y'all puting the clips back in the wholes or not? I don't really like having empty holes in my fender well. I might shave the flaps down so it will fill that area up. Is anybody doing anything else to cover that?

I took the factory ones off and got the aftermarket ones that are shorter.

Factory were fine on the wifes truck but mine I need to drive a little more off road and back in the side yard to load a trailer so they drag.

Plan to wash the factory flaps and sell them.

Do the stock flaps fit 265/75/16 if not what aftermarket flaps do?

Excellent flexible flaps. Mounting hardware included with the kit. Installed easily with an offset screwdriver on all four corners, don't have to dismount the tires, no drilling, uses the the three existing mounting points that have screws on the OEM "flaps" (and I use that word generously).

Check your local inspection laws. Here in PA, you must have them, at least on the rear

now i am just a simple hillbilly but it seems to me if you catch a rock that slangs off one of my feets then maybe your following too close ? i took mine off and if you maintain proper space, you should be fine regardless of what slangs loose.i for one am sick and tired of people blaming someone else for thier own damn shortcomings! try slowing your roll bro if your behind me cause i think theyre ugly as shit and they are all the time dragging on some shit which makes you think your dragging skid plates it makes such awful racket ! and also, isnt that what insurance is for ? i mean,ANY car can pick up and slang a rock,by that reasoning your saying EVERY person who drives a truck without flaps is an asshole because you wanna feel safer as you tailgate ? what about passenger cars ? arent you singling out trucks and isnt that by definition some kind of descrimination ?

if your behind me best maintain your distance is my advice and if your close enough to see the little skeleton man on my tie down cleet thats shooting you the middle finger then yeah that IS FOR YOU,and your too close dipstick!

OFF WITH THEM ! is my vote !

Thread's been dead for over 5 years. But since it's again active my 2 cents. Well over 90% of the trucks and SUV's in this country don't even come with mud flaps. I've been driving off road and on gravel forest service roads since the 1970's.

I never owned a truck that had mudflaps until buying my Tacoma 12 years ago. Those broke off after 3 years and I never bothered replacing them. That was 9 years ago and I average roughly 1000 miles/year on gravel roads. NO ONE else here has mud flaps on their trucks and it has been that was since I started driving over 45 years ago.

The Tacoma has 194,000 miles and not a single chip in the paint is on it. Never had any paint chipped on any of the other dozen or so trucks and SUV's I've driven over a million, maybe closer to 2 million miles, over the years. Never had a glass chipped even though I'm sharing the road with other drivers without mud flaps.

yeah sorry,i didnt mean to wake any sleeping dogs but i had googled whether i NEEDED flaps or not and that search led me here where i was quite disappointed in some of the statements here.apparently there no laws requiring mudflaps on ANY passenger vehicles that i can find, except the district of columbia and even they aren’t ENFORCING it !

i didnt see one person mention the fact that if your so hung up on laws,it clearly states a requirement on the amount of distance you should allow the vehicle your following and the fact that if YOU are following the law then you probably wont be close enough for this subject to even be a debate ! and on the rare occasions it does happen, maybe it was YOUR fault and not mine ! and lastly,if your following the law, your insurance covers that !

i just thought someone should say that.lol.everyone is so hung up on the LAW and theyve already spoken to this subject, slow the hell down and dont tailgate and carry insurance...me having mudflaps or not isnt a legal issue and its not my responsibility,it comes down to whether i like them or not and i dont...lol

The same shit everyone else has.
    I vote mudflaps.

Had my fronts off for less than a week. Hated it.

Trim them up so they fit better. I went as far as modifying the shit outta my front ones to clear a set of 285s vs not running them.
