I don't recommend the oem flaps that are hard plastic, especially if you're going to wheel your truck. I have mine on currently but have had sketchy encounters where I felt I almost ripped them right off, I have lost a bolt in one of them. I'm going to be taking them off the next free day I have.

My old Tacoma had the rear passenger flap knocked off when i was off road. And strangely enough, these new 3rd gens didn't come with flaps. That's all good because I put on the plasticolor flaps. They are cheaper and flexible so they should be bend rather than get knocked off.

It looks like they take up some room, I'm assuming I cant run 285s with them on a standard 2" lift.

Riding on the FS roads last weekend with stock OR tires I had tons of rocks pinging off the cast aluminum running boards.

Made me real glad I'd put the weathertech flaps on the truck.

FYI Advance Auto Parts carries them (ship to home) and frequently has 30% off coupons if you google around.

Very Nice! How far did you hand them from the rocker panel?

Can you post a pic of how they are mounted

I'm a fan of the OEM flaps. These trucks looks weird now to me without them.

I couldnt even turn into my driveway with my tires. Plasticolor are a lot thinner and will do the trick

But as far as overall coverage goes - not just durability of the the flap/guard itself - which would you consider to provide better protection? Because you can get Husky mud guards with a lifetime warranty so at that point it doesn't really matter how durable the guard itself is considering that you can just have it replaced under warranty.
Side note: I had flaps on my subie and they ripped over time.

Front and back are exactly 10" from the ground. Mounted using factory fender screws.

Personal preference for sure. I don't like them and would just remove before an off road trip, but with bigger wider tires they do protect the paint!

Are these tires the K02s? They look real nice.
