I know that Canada is different, but what is requirement up there?

Here, they get a burr at times and pull out their rulers only after it has been announced. Just like they do with special enforcement of window tint and other stuff. 1.0in or 1.5in of tire stick out max beyond hard body parts is allowed. Typically, it is not consistently enforced and I haven't seen a BroDozer pulled over in ages.

I do not believe there is anything relating to mud flaps except maybe heavy commercial vehicles?

    Just a courtesy thing.

The guy didn't say anything about my tires sticking out he just flamed me for not having flaps. I dunno the specific rules but from what I gathered pretty much everything short of a car or small cuv has to have them.

I hate the look of mud flaps. But I might finally reach my breaking point soon. I get damn tired of having to power wash all of the thrown mud after every camping trip. That shit embeds into the panels and takes forever to dig out and polish up again. Every trip. It's a major PIA to do. :annoyed:

Naw man. Maybe i'm weird. but I think the truck looks bad without mud flaps. Rek Gens, I think, look especially cool. I can see not loving the OEM flaps, they are pretty narrow, but the Rek Gens are legit.

All the Kool Kids run flappy flaps

Ok so I have my rek gens installed - regular size and pulled out as far as they can to cover my tires. Surprised i'm not getting more protection. Miles and miles of gravel road this past week/weekend and all I heard was clink, clack, clunck on my side panels....and door.

I like the look without, but the winters can be brutal in Montana. With lots of gravel/sand out after big snowfalls and summer adventures on long gravel roads I guess it’s better to have them on.
I do like the old school look of the Tufskinz.

I've read that keeping the OEM ones on can do more damage than good with going over actual rocks (not gravel or loose little pebbles). Has anyone had any experience with this?

Mine came with them from the factory but didn't necessarily want them. I'll keep them until they become an issue but I'm sure they'll come in handy

    Hey Griz,

My compliments on your photography. That's a great picture of your flaps on your truck.

    And those Tufskinz look great.

I went to their web site to check availability for my new 2021 SR Tacoma but their web site says: "**These will not fit the SR Model or any Model without factory fender flares**"

So, it looks like I'm SOL (S_ _ T Out Of luck).

Plain and simple is what I'm looking for.

    Thanks for your input.

    Jolly

I smacked my factory mud flaps on some rocks and changed them out for something with flex so they dont break off.

If you have aftermarket wheels/tires such as 33" and they stick out a bit, the problem is you can get a ticket when you have no mudflaps. Stock, it's fine.

I like the mudflaps. Functional and practical.
