that’s a known rekgen issue. The mounting hardware is mislabeled. You correctly reversed them compared to the package labeling.

When I was installing my Rekgens, it seemed to me that the directions were wrong. The directions said to put the shorter spacer in the front and the longer in the back. It didn’t look right to me, so I contacted RekGen. They told me the shorter spacer should go in the front to allow more room for the wheels to turn without rubbing on the flap. I installed as instructed with the short spacer in the front and it has worked out great.

So after reading this thread I thought I would order a set of the Rekgens. Went to the webpage $102US for the XL set for my Tacoma and $54 to ship them to Canada. Might have to stick to stock. Being is Canada add another %35 on top of that for exchange which is a total of $210 Canadian. Then duties and taxes when it gets to my door.

Rekgens are also available via Amazon. Would that be a cheaper shipping option ?

Mine has a clesr bra and mud flaps on the rear. Thinking of pulling mine off since they are not as useful with a more aggressive wheel

Toyota Canada makes this decision easy....you get factory mud flaps whether you like them or not.

Shit I found on CL or EBAY that I could screw on.
My .02 the stock flaps look cheezee. RekGens were, I think my second purchase, or purchased at the same time as the steps. You can't deny that they work, but personal decisions.

+1 for Rekgens. Stock flaps don't bend at all, other options are just a bit "extra". Rekgens are flexible, minimalist, and do the job.

Definitely flaps in my end of the world. Rockers and paint take a major beating if you don't. My '09 2nd gen has 272,000kms (170K miles) and the rockers/fenders still look near new, they'd be beat if I didn't have them on and the plastic OEM style running boards.

I'm planning a 3rd gen in the near future and it won't leave the dealer without flaps and the same boards.

If it was based purely on aesthetics I would not keep them. But, I have the stock mud flaps. I keep the fronts to protect my paint and the rears to keep me from kicking up a rock on a vehicle behind me and chipping their paint or cracking their windshield. I wonder if a majority of the people who don’t keep the rear mud flaps are the same people that don’t return their cart at the super market? But if your state laws do not require them to each their own. I just hope the road karma stays on my side and the rock kicked up from the lifted truck with no flaps ahead of me avoids me.

I had my truck for about 2k miles, and it picks up quite a few rocks and hurls them against the body... I'll be putting the OEM :stirthepot: mudflaps on momentarily.
