    Hey all,

I managed to lose a mud flap while acquiring some beautiful new scratches offroad. The stealership wants $140 (CAD) for a new one, and I'm just not convinced that a piece of plastic can ever be worth even a fraction of that price. Ebay came up with nothing, and a google search didn't turn too much up either.

So, my question to everyone: where can I get some stock or custom fit mudflaps, either from an online source or physical store in my area (maybe Northwest Washington, if the price is right)?

Check the for sale section here and the other Tacoma boards. Always seems to be a full set selling every time I looked.

Of course getting someone in the states to ship to Canada can be a different story.

That was the other option. I like the look of the truck with them off, too. What do you think about putting that clear bra plastic on to protect the paint? I know that, without something in the way, the paint will be chipped away to nothing in no time at all.

u will be very amazed at how bad the scratches can be and how well they come out with a good rubbing compound and buffer, but wax it after aand dont get to abrasive or you will lose all clear coat, clay bar,a dn wax, wax and more wax, the thicker the wax, the bette ryour truck paint is protected, and scratches come out easier. so good key poinat here, lots of wax

No doubt. My concern, for the moment, is replacing the mudflaps or mitigating the damage that may result from rocks etc. being thrown up from the front wheels.

I'm sure I'll be asking your advice on how to remove scratches once my off-highway excursion season is over:D

You if you are off roading alot- Take them all off or nature will. Plus they make nasty noises grinding into stuff that make you wonder if you are balling up your rig.

Look around at local auto parts places for flexible rubber ones and "custom fit" them on the Taco. or go with the clear plastic bra. I don't have anything on mine and haven't noticed any significant scratching or damage from road material.

tbh, mudflaps should be covered under your bumper to bumper warranty.
They're not supposed to break from normal duty.

You know, that's not a bad angle to pursue. I'm going to give that a shot. I don't have much hope, but it can't hurt.

Smells like something the dealer would call abuse on & not a manufacturing defect but it's worth a try I guess.

I've been pondering taking mine off but am worried about getting rocks kicked up and damaging my body. Anyone with long term experience of having them off? Thanks!

A couple of the people I've gone 4 wheeling with have had mudflaps broken during the trip.
They went to the dealer on other unrelated issues and upon receiving the truck back, had 4 good mud flaps on.
