Mud Flaps! Are you running them or removed them? Positive and negative feedback? I have already read a ton of threads. Just wanted a few more opinions before I decide.

Off but be prepared when you take them off to have missing paint lines from them rubbing from you driving and them flexing.

Running mine, but I trimmed 3" off the front and going to take another 1" off, and an inch off the rears. If you're a hard core off roader, they'll get in your way. Mall cruiser and trail rider, they'll keep a bunch of rocks and dirt off your paint.

Fronts are removed and the rear were sprayed in bed liner to make them all black and remove the white lettering. Going to be trimming the rear soon though due to how long they are.

I only use my mudflaps in winter to minimize salt spray.

    You need a Replace option.
I replaced mine with a shorter, more pliable generic mud guard. Much less chance of tearing them off on the trail, looks much better, keeps it legal, and I'm not that asshole running around without guards giving people chipped windshields!
I've had two chips that were caused by just this type of asshat.

took off the fronts because they look like trash once the wind gets to them and bends em backwards.
Lost one on a wheeling trip so just removed the remainder.
Will probably replace with some shorter ones tho so an asshole cop doesn't pull me over for lack of them

Replaced the front flaps with Husky guards. They are a lot shorter and better quality. Rear are still stock. I like the looks of the truck better with them off, but keep them on to protect the paint.

I like the protection they offer. I have had vehicles in the past with chewed up paint behind the wheels from rock chips on dirt roads. I just trimmed five inches off the front ones. Good to go for me.

I made my own rears from some pliable rubber. Cut to shape with tin snips and I can remove them because they're held on by 3 screws and they were free:bananadance:

Bought a Tacoma about a month ago, and started looking for front mudflaps. It has them on the rear. Drive a lot of gravel roads, and drive in fields, pastures etc, so really need front flaps. Called auto anything, they said they have NONE for trucks without fender flares. Only ones I have found are OEM which are WAY expensive. Any suggestions?

They used to be the first things I took off. I picked up an 09 that still had em on and I gotta say they serve a purpose. With out, in the mud, I'd get mud on my jeans from the rockers every time I get out. The rear bumper gets completely full of mud and is hard to get cleaned out. The truck stays much more clean on muddy days. I will leave them from now on.

Have you looked at weathertech or husky? Not sure if they work without flares, but might be worth a look.

Yes, I did talk to auto anything about weather tech and husky. Both are only for use on trucks with fender flares.

Mine fell off 7 years ago. I have no damage to the vehicle and I drive at least 1000 miles a year on dirt/gravel roads. Well over 90% of the trucks and SUV's on the road don't have mudflaps on them and they don't seem to have damage from road debris.

If you're running factory tires you don't need anything. If you're using aftermarket tires and wheels that cause them to extend beyond the fenders mud flaps won't help there either. If you want to prevent mud from getting on the truck you need fender flares to cover the tires.

Yea I never saw any damage to speak of and I'm off road all day 6 days a week. The main difference for me is the mud on the rockers, up in the back bumper and less on the doors and bed aides to clean off after a muddy day. Running a little larger tires than stock. I'm about to lift and go to 285's so we'll see how much they help then
