Rokblokz makes some for oversize tires that attach to the outside of the fender, anyone used those before?

I've already trimmed away the plastic at the location where that bottom screw hole is - as has likely everyone who's done a cab-mount-chop. So those wouldn't work for me anyway.

Agreed. But presumably if they were actually going to actually sell them, they'd be in some color other than 'prototype pink'

Ya they definately arent the most attractive especially in red, but they would work. And yes, they would probably cost too much anyways. Im kinda leaning more towards the idea of just adding nerf bars or running boards like whiplash suggested to stop a bunch of the rocks beacuse my girlfriend and her son have a hard time getting in the truck as it is. Then ill prob just get flaps for the rear.

    A few things
I took mine off about 2 months ago. I like the look of them off. I looked at other trucks and most full size trucks don't have them at all. It does leave a little dirty spray on the lower half sometimes but not too bad (city/highway).

The same shit everyone else has.
I want to trim my front flaps down alot or remove them, but I am not looking forward to all the rock chips on the lower doors. The paint on the lower portion of the doors on my Jetta is destroyed because the tires throw rocks at them.

I think I'm going to looking into some kind of clear vinyl to protect the doors on the truck before I modify the mudflaps.

Maybe look for a thin flap up front? It would work better than the vinyl imo.

Someone further up this thread, i forget who, said that putting some nerf bars or step sides will block some of the rocks that fly up. Thats going to be my next purchase because im getting to many rock chips in my paint. Sounds like a pretty good solution. I will prob end up buying rear flaps as well to atleast protect the underneath of my rear bumper, which also has a few rock chips.

    Some stuff...
So after 2+ weeks overseas returning this week to a fucking winter wonderland, today was 65 degrees and my first opportunity to trim my flaps. BUT the passenger flap is MIA - damn thing must have gotten ripped off in parking in the shittly-plowed train station parking lot where I had to back over a small snow berm to park. :frusty:

So, I took the front one off and will probably remove the rears tomorrow. Why those GD things are so long is beyond me - Toyota needs to get their heads outa their asses on some things!

Ok, after reading a gazillion messages and seeing a gazillion pics of trimming, removing, and modifing mud flaps I came up with a solution which I think is the best of both worlds. I trimmed approximatly 10 inches off the front factory mud flaps (14 inches up from ground) and added 5 inches of rubber Plasticolor ($15 from advanced auto parts) to the trimmed factory mud guards. I utilized ss #8 (1/8) pan head screws with 1/8 X 3/4 ss washers and #8 nylon locking nuts to attach trimmed Plasticolor mud flap. The total dimensions of the mudflap is 4.5 inches shorter than the origional mud flap and the lower 5 inches of the flap is flexible rubber. Excuse any blurriness. I combined Cold Iron's Idea in post #661. I meerly used the factory flaps and different hardware to attach Plasticolor flaps.

The main problem with mudflaps is that when you back up the truck, it gets pinched with the tire and for example the curb or pothole, that's how I ripped mine off..............

Either way your setup looks really good IMO
