Mud Flaps

i voted stock flaps but the front are getting cut when i get my dremel for christmas

 

I love this pic, you can show it in the black Taco thread and say "mine is the black truck"

 

Usually not... (except themselves, of course) but if you leave them on long enough (as I did) you'll find that they leave annoying lines in the paint where the plastic has rubbed.

 

Scratch that... did it yesterday with some tin snips looks waaaay better

 

ordered the Pro-fit mud flaps after seeing this post. to heck with cutting them. i am going to take the stock ones off sell them on ebay, and pocket
$50.

 

Took off the 4x4 mud flaps a few months after I bought the truck. And now the Coma looks higher.

 

That thing called "landing" took care of my front ones pretty easily. The rears are on still. If your truck is tall enough they are required by law in AZ!

I trimmed the front ones, because they're like wearing a long dress when they're stock (and that's just wierd). I trimmed them to be 1" shorter than the back when measured from the ground. I marked each one for shape using the other side as a template, then cut with a jigsaw at high speed/low pressure with a regular wood blade. Finished by smoothing with a file. Worked great and looks balanced.

At stock length, I've seen them ripped off by rocks when wheeling, and in some areas (like mine) it's "illegal" to go without. I don't know about you, but I'd rather not give the po-po any reason to pull me over!!

 

I lost my front driver stock mudflap on the freeway today. Well, I didn't exactly lose it - it was hanging on by 1 inch left and the rest had torn. Stock front mudflap rips off going 75mph = BANG BANG BANG BANG!! Like a freaking sail! Left a lot of rubber "stains" on door but luckily no dents.

 

just took off my front flaps today. i think it's a big improvement in looks, and the front flaps just hung way too low. kind of hard to tell in this shitty cell phone pic, but i'm happy with the fronts off.

 

I hate mud flaps. Always have, always will. I hated them even more the first time I took my truck on a serious trail and they dragged on everything.

Unfortunately, I didn't remove mine early enough and I have those faint, annoying lines in the paint. My solution: run through the dirt often enough that the lines stay covered.

Fun outcome: once I removed the mud flaps, my buddies thought I'd lifted my truck. (Shhh, they don't need to know the truth).

 

I pulled out the dremel this weekend to shorten my fronts flaps. I quickly realized tin snips would work better and had it done in 5 minutes.

I outlined each of them using the other one as a template. I'll post pictures when I get them uploaded.

 

i was mall crawling, when one of my flaps hit a rock and cracked... i think they are useless, i will take mine out soon.

I have my stock mudflaps that I took off 2 weeks after I bought my truck if anyone is interested.

I didn't really take them off.

My truck did that for me. She knows what I like.

 

I left mine on - love the protection they give. Last truck I had didn't have them and tires "throw" too much road debris, tar and rocks that can damage my paint and possibly cars driving behind. When I lived in Phoenix area, they had a lot of tar and chip roads and in the dead of summer, no one with any sense would drive too close to the car in front of them else they'd be showing their ignorance with a cracked windshield (real popular "scar" of tailgating in the valley). Keep the flaps or at least try to - way too many positives to outweigh negatives.

 

Fronts are gone, rears are cut short but will be gone when I build the new bumper.
