So I'm over mudding and looking to get into rock crawling. I have a spacer lift now and have read too many mixed reviews about lifts. What is the best for an amateur getting into crawling?

To expand. I'm looking higher end(King, fox, icon) and I'm planning on putting a fab bumper with a winch on.

What do you mean by crawling, and what is your budget?

I only know crawling from a Jeep perspective so take my advice with a grain of salt.

If you are looking to crawl, I recommend an SAS, 5.13 gears and some 35"+ tires.

To answer your shock question. Kings all the way

Crawling as in not bouldering but able to get over a spread bed of 1ft tall rocks without destroying my truck. Really I'm looking at trying to upgrade from spacers to have the flexibility to do more. I'm military transferring and plan to take a month to transfer across the country and staying in national/local parks. And by budget I mean I can afford the retail price of higher end and can install myself.

Armor and experience also plays a huge role and not suspension alone. John's just running a full OME lift and some 255/85r16 tires.

nice. at least you should't be stuck on the trail with a busted oil pan or have rocker panel damage

Experience is something is i dont have on the trails in looking to face. I'm used to running through mud. Armor was easy enough to research. Suspension is where I'm at an amateur level. I want something that I don't have to upgrade again (from a 3" lift standpoint). That's the input I'm looking for.

I'm just saying that you don't need some expensive adjustable coilovers to achieve what you're trying to achieve. If you can afford it and want it, that's great. Just keep in mind that once you get to those adjustable coilovers such as Icon/King/Fox, they will need to rebuilt every so often (60k miles?) whereas the OME is a set it and forget it kinda suspension.

To clarify, Icons, Fox and Kings are also set it and forget it, you do not need to purchase adjusters. They will ultimately last longer and instead of requiring full replacement, can be rebuilt. They can also be rebuilt yourself.

OP, If you want to purchase once, definitely go for Kings or another performance shock. Can always consider Long Travel but very expensive.

Below is a good video I have shared. Watch the first 20 minutes.

Kings aren't favorite of the "big 3" ADS is also a great shock company but much smaller. Check out wheelers off road or headstrong they will get you set up

Wow they have great prices. Did you get it powder coated or spray it? And how has it held up corrosion wise?

So I settled on ADS for the fronts. Now let's talk about rear (specifically leafs) I want to get trail/road ride quality while retaining load bearing quality. I want to install bed bars to mount a roof top tent and load the bed up with gear.

I just sprayed it and it has held up just fine. I took the bumper off once to install the winch and reapplied a coat of paint, other than that its awesome.

Went with Dakars and Nitrochargers for the rear. They are incredible, I love them, easily a good choice. Thanks for the help guys. I also ordered that bumper from mobtown.
