Been debating on getting some, don’t go off-road a whole lot and when I do it’s either mud or sand never do any rock crawling. I like the look without better but I can tell my black paint doesn’t like it. Hate the stock ones any flexible ones out there you guys know of?

I have always kept my stock ones on. Both my 2003 and my 2015. Never had an issue serious enough to damage them. I hear rocks being thrown into my fenders often when on gravel roads, so I’m keeping them until they get torn off. I do some minor rock crawling here in Colorado.
I tow a travel trailer or kayak trailer at times and don’t want the front of them damaged.
    Good luck in your decision!

The OEM mudflaps are pretty easy to remove with a phillips screwdriver and 10mm wrench/socket before off-roading, and put back on the rest of the time.

I like the OEM ones personally.

Just keep throwin' money at it.
I liked @barlowrs setup with 1st gen flaps Installing 1st gen mudflaps on 2nd gen | Tacoma World I just need to find a set locally. The stock hard plastic ones have no give, and I was not a fan of them. Rockblox or some other aftermarket would be a good flexible option. I just need to find something and install it, I've been peppering my driftboat and the travel cover is not enjoying it.

Stock ones work well just cut 2" off rears (under the 4x4) and 4" off fronts. Used tin snipes and then a file can't tell they were altered.
Fronts sometimes crack or split apart right under the cab where they were over flexed so JB weld plastic bonder fixes that and then the 4" cut off.
I reinstalled with stainless metal screws and new push pins.
The aftermarkets holes never line up with stock and are almost impossible to get on and are too long anyway.

Every vehicle should have mud flaps, imo.

The domestic truck makers really need to consider making them standard equipment.

Nothing more nerve-racking than driving behind a lifted truck with chunky offroad tires and no mud flaps that just got off a gravel road and is flinging rocks behind.

the amount of shit that was behind my tail light from that when I had to remove it also
And that whole general uncovered area

I guess that’s what I get for going 35’s, stock liner delete, stock flares delete, stock mud flaps gone

even a mud flap will deflect upward. Thats the idea of a chain to hold it at an angle for it to deflect crap downward. Saving the truck behind you and keeping behind the tail light clean.

Mud flaps are a yes. I have had my original flaps still on ('06). I don't want to be the guy throwing rocks if it can be prevented. Have been on the receiving end of those rocks.

...the last one I had thrown up at mine was a few years ago, and the chip is there, but fortunately, this one had stayed about the size of a dime. ....the last one, I swear it was happening in slow motion, as I saw it coming, like in the movies when they show the bullet whizzing through the air, or like at the beginning of the old show Ironside, when Raymond Burr was shot, and did the slow motion pirouette, aas he dropped. .....and yet I was helpless to avoid it.

I've been driving a truck since 1976. My 2007 Tacoma is the only one that had mudflaps. The front ones broke off after 3 years, I took the rears off shortly after. 99% of the other trucks on the road don't have mudflaps either. Never had a single problem that mud flaps would have solved.

While my 17-year-old 247,000-mile truck has its share of dings and scratches, none are due to not having mud flaps. The windshield is still factory and I drive at least 1000 miles/year on gravel forest service type roads with hundreds of other trucks that don't have mudflaps.

If your tires fit inside the fenders, you won't have problems and mudflaps won't help anything. If your tires poke out past the fenders you will have problems, but mudflaps still won't help anything.

I bolted my flaps onto my HC bumper. They’re holding up well. Deets:

those plastic push clips only seem to last 2 years!! before they break and have to get replacements
perhaps it is water that gets behind and freezes during the colder months and snaps them?
other than That, i would not know the reason Why they keep breaking every other year

Same. Well, probably the second year. Now I kinda feel like a dick, hope I didn’t hit anyone’s windshield, I’ve had my share of bad luck with that myself so maybe that’s some karma.
