You guys are all lucky, I have the Cali edition with smog stuff on it, all trucks in cali are now required to have the Trippy-Dippy-Hippy Emissions system, basically there are sensors all over your truck so if you try to replace the muffler bearing yourself without express written permission from the govenor you truck will either do one of two things: A: it grows dreads and decides to 'Occupy" wherever the fuck it's at, meaning it simply won't move unless you pepper spray the headlights. or B: It starts throwing CEL codes and turns into a California Politician, meaning it becomes unreasonable and totally obstinate, raises your taxes and saddle your offspring with ridiculous debt.

Just back flush it from the pipe with Mothers Salve. Use a 4 inch reduction warbler and 2000 psi. Once inserted and pressurized, wait until the overhead temp display reads ( ) ( ). Remove hose while standing off to one side. After tar is ripped up dispose of properly. Within 2 min of aftershock fart, cycle key 64 1/2 times. Insert new ball bearings in the us made kit into the snap on tool # ou812. Inject directly into flap valve upstream from bearing housing. Start engine and warm up to 450 degrees for 30 min. That's it. New bearings installed the right way. So simple a caveman can do it.....

I can't find my bearing? Where is it at? Where the plate to take of to grease it at least?

I would take it to a professional for service. to many times I have heard horror stories about DIY's getting in over their heads. Big problems, a real can of worms.:(

Well I can't seem to find it so I'm going to put this thing back on. I have two choices ethier use a coat hanger and torch to weld it or I also bought some heat tape. Prob do both to be safe I guess.

East Coast Exhaust Supply sells a sleeve bushing kit to replace the troublesome bearing. For Taco owners with 8.4" or larger johnson rods only.

I warm my muffler bearings on the satoshi grill prior to installing, they drop right on without pressing. I buy only ceramic coated Titanium Sulfate Bearings for longer life, and keeping RPMs above 4800 means the muffler bearings never slow down long enough to seize, even when overdue for replacement. I like the bilstein bearings with adjustable preload, they perform better, as the correct amount of preload is crutial for good bearing life. I also recommend regular muffler flushes to remove contaminants and wear particles, as it greatly improves muffler bearing life when compared to a muffler drain and refill, but that is better than nothing.
