Muffler delete

Loud and slow is not better. Thats like saying if someone cant sing they should stand next to me and scream out my favorite song and its better.

One of the reasons I still come to TW is knowledge, of which there's some good in this thread. I had no idea about the 60* vs. 90*. I will add my opinion; I had an '86 Camaro with the 2.8v6. It was a paltry 135hp. but had a beautiful throaty sound. My Tacoma's 3.4 v6 sounds wimpy in comparison, but yet is larger and has about 60 more hp. 60* vs. 90* I guess! If I were the OP I would want to leave some sort of muffler in there, not only to control noise (trust that you'd grow so tired of it quickly), but also, if you open up the exhaust flow too much, I feel you'll lose a significant amount of lower-end power. You may gain a little more at high RPM but you spend very little time at high RPM. I could be wrong as maybe losing the muffler might not be that big of a loss of back-pressure, I am not sure. The cats are still in there.

I'm going to blow your mind again... the GM 2.8L V6 is a 60 degree motor too.

Yeah? Well that blows that theory I guess, but my mind is still intact. So it must be firing order or something else.

Honestly? I think it's the way the exhaust is routed and the muffler design w/ the sideways single in/dual out deal. I had an '87 with the 2.8 V6 and for a tiny motor, I'll agree it had a little bit of throatiness to it.
