Hi, new member and this is my first post. I got my muffler deleted and decided it was too loud and raspy so I ended up having someone put my muffler back on. I think he put it on backwards and now the truck sounds super quiet. Don't know if this is due to me being used to hearing the load noise from the muffler delete but I was wondering, does having the muffler on backwards harm my truck? Thanks in advance!

    Hi, welcome.

Some mufflers do specify inlet and outlet based on baffle designs, but you probably got used to the drone or hum of the aftermarket piece. If you're not sure, take it back and have the shop look at it again to give you peace of mind.

Do the 3rd gen Tacoma's have directional muffler? Or how could you tell if it has a directional muffler? Thanks for your help!

Do most directional mufflers have a center outlet due to the design of being one way directional?

So I'm no expert but I do have a stock muffler sitting in my garage right now since I have flow master on my truck at the moment. From the outside, it looks identical on both ends. Looking inside the openings, both sides look very similar but not identical. So I would say it's directional, otherwise, I would think both sides would be identical.

Here are a couple more clear photos. The first is of the front of the muffler, and the second is the rear which goes to the tail pipe.IMG_2413.jpgIMG_2414.jpg

To know if the muffler is installed the right way (as it was from the factory) the hangers that go into the rubber suspenders should match. Looking at your picture, why is the muffler twisted and not matched up to the original hangers? Now looks cheap made. At this point I would get the Toyota TRD OEM from PRO and also relocate the lower hanging crushed pipe.

The person who welded back the muffler I guess did not know that hangers were supposed to connect... So theoretically the muffler is in the correct orientation, but still needs to be turned to match the hangers correct?
I was actually thinking of getting the TRD Pro cat back exhaust from Toyota. Is the drone noise loud inside the cabin? Thanks again for all your help!

Just leave it alone for now and get the the TRD Pro cat back exhaust.
Loud? I think is quiet with a nice sound but post your location and check for your state if anybody has a PRO, ask them to meet for 5 min and listed to the stock TRD PRO muffler.

Ya know if this was a mustang or camaro with a V8 I could see removing the muffler. But on a truck with a V6? I just don't get it. What was your purpose for doing this?
