Looking to get a new muffler on the truck. Don’t really care about drone as I never really drive it on the highway too often just have a big exhaust leak going on which I wanna resolve. I want something that sounds loud and raspy at high rpms when I accelerate or rev up, but something that also isn’t supper loud. If anything the less drone the better.
Just to be clear I don’t wanna run any big old mufflers like the stock one. Want something smaller that gives more engine noise and so fourth.
    Thanks y’all

my super 44 series flowmaster. Cold start. I personally like it a lot. This is also with new 3” pipe from the muffler out. This definitely has a lower growl to it than a ricier sound but it does have some drone to it.

I mean it’s noticeable but given some time you get used to it pretty quick. I can still play music and have conversations easily. If I remember I’ll take a video tomorrow. I might already have one just give me a year to find it real quick.
Edit: its a video just getting on the freeway. You hear my engine and intake more than anything. I’ll hit the freeway tomorrow cus I want this video too lol.

I've heard from several people that a video clip from the internet is a terrible way to judge the sound. You really gotta hear it in person, and drive around IN it.

To be honest, I haven't heard an aftermarket exhaust that I like. My old 86 4Runner with a 22R-TE had, literally, a motorhome muffler with 2.5" pipe from the turbo back from some random exhaust shop. It sounded WAY better than anything I've heard from the aftermarket crowd because it seems like magnaflow and all those others just try to make these little motors sound bigger than they are, which IMO ends up sounding like farting in a coffee can.

definetly agree in person is the only way you can judge an exhaust sound. the mics from phones cant get you the proper sound tone to hear

I'm happy with a $30 Advance auto Flowtech Raptor turbo muffler on my 3.4. I'd check out something like that or try the summit racing generic turbo muffler

Right of course no video can do real justice. You can watch all the videos u want but gotta pull the trigger on one eventually. Perhaps if you’re lucky you can meet up with other local TW members and see how theirs sound in person.

Keep in mind we may get different results on our 3RZ’s than the big boys do with their fancy 6 cylinders.

Buy stainless, whatever you buy, will last a lot longer than anything else. We get a lot of salt on our winter roads, maybe you don’t?

I have a MagnaFlow and I'm happy with it. To me, it has a clean sound over the FlowMaster. Not to droney in the cab either.

Think I’m gonna end up going with the magnaflow ultra flow ss or something unless anyone has had any issues with those?

No suggestion, no please update us with your results. My Taco sounds like a Dyson vacuum cleaner and wouldn’t mind changing the exhaust note.
