That's what I have and I really like the way it sounds. I have the 3.4 and a 5 speed though.

I personally like the way the 3.4 sounds. My favorite stock sound is the 3.4 in a T-100. In highschool I had a 92 22re Truck with LCE headers,2.25in piping to glasspack where the cat was, and a flowmaster super 40 with 2.5in piping to the tail pipe. It made the 4cyl sound like a v6. For a mild sound I'd stick with a muffler with a case larger than 14in and a resonator.

Edit- After reading the spintech suggestion and researching- Wow they sound really good!

I have the Magnaflow exhaust. Everyone tells me it sounds awesome. It has a nice deep tone and sounds nice when driving away. But I would of just kept mine stock if it wasn’t all rusted.

This is a bit of a no-win question for you. Sound, like style, is very personally subjective. Also, the recordings tend to have some differences to reality also. Best bet is to try listening to some local's installs and figure out what you might like. Personally I tried 3 different version of muffler before I found what I liked. Each one of the three was "perfect", according to someone. :D

My truck came with a Flowmaster already installed. I think it's the 40 series. It's a bit loud for my tastes most of the time. Changing it out is low on my priorities though. Happy to film a clip with it if you think it'll help you decide.

These engines are never gonna sound as musical as a V8, straight six or even pushrod V6 (honestly the wimpy 3.0 pushrod six in the older Rangers sounds way more like a real truck engine :crapstorm:), but I think out of all the mufflers I've heard on them, the Thrush Welded sounds the most "truckish". It just has a nice old-school rumble to it while not sounding as woofy and bassy as the Magnaflows.

    Stock is probably best though.

Yup, and at $30-80~ per muffler it's not a whole lot to change it out if you decide you don't like it

+1. You cannot improve upon the sound of this motor-just make it louder. Just my opinion, but it really isn't a great sounding v6.
