Multi-Day Four Corners Area Meet, 7/10/10

Cool, that's all I did in my Bronco. I left the antenna unplugged and stored most of the time. I only plugged it in, ran the cord through a window, and stuck it on the roof when I was on a wheeling trip.

 

Yeah, that's pretty much the only thing I use the rear window for. But I'm glad I have it for that one reason.

The honest reason of why I put mine where it is is two reasons. One, its outta the way, two, I used to have an offroading video game and the trucks had it there and I have always thought it looked good.

 

Cool, thanks for the tips. Would the magnetic one stay up there pretty well at hi-way speeds?

Yes it will. My friend has one on his 4runner and it stays on fine on the freeway.

 

Mine never moves from wind. It even stays in place when it hits a few low hanging branches. I've knocked it off before, but that was in some pretty thick vegitation.

Cool, then that's what I'll probably get. At least for the short term. I kinda want to cool look of that red whip fastened to the truck.

 

Are we going to be by water at all on this trip? I ask because I might make one of these. I found a write up and this would be a good time to test it.

Since you asked nicely, Greg, an update. Count me in as 99.9% in for Saturday and Sunday. My dad is flying in from NC to ride shotgun. The only thing that will keep me from going is some possible but still iffy out of town work for the job. But the guys here are willing to work with me on it.

 

Sounds good Blair. Now get a lift and locker. I know you, like me, are broke because of family obligations. So we're going to have to keep it cheap. A cheap spacer lift and a Lockright can both be bought, and installed by yourself, for $500.

Here's the deal... Tell the wife you "need" it. It's a simple "maintenance" thing that needs to be taken care of. Then tell your Dad, that if he wanted to maximize his experience and get his plane fare money's worth, he'd pitch in. Be sure to add a guilt trip by telling a story of when he wronged you in childhood.

 

I got my spacer lift for $219, and installed in about 3 hours in my garage.

I will head down on Fri... Just me and my dog, Barrett (German Shepherd). Any suggestions on where to camp Fri night?

When will the trip be officially over? I need to know whether to request Mon and Tues off work, or just Mon... Also, where will it end? I need to plan my route back...

I have 265/75/16C Duratracs, rear locker, and A-Trac... Recovery gear includes a strap, shackles, shovel, axe, etc... Might have some sliders by then and possibly a couple additional skid plates...

Anyone else in the area want to caravan?

I've thought about bringing my dog, but not sure how he would take it. He's a big baby, that has never spent a night outside the house. He's a boxer, I wonder of the altitude would give him problems.
