Great pics Greg. Makes me even more excited for the trip. I have always seen these places from far off, but never up close. Gonna be awesome to be there.

As is, it will just be me. I have a tent, and I'll also bring a couple of the fold up bag chairs.

Are we gonna try to venture into town any of the days(nights) during the trip?

That was one thing I wanted to talk to you guys about night 1. If you want to spend a little time in Telluride for lunch and whatnot (it's a kick ass place), then we'll need to take Ophir after Black Bear. If you're wanting pure unadulterated wheeling, we'll return on Imogene and Yankee Boy after Black Bear. Telluride, Silverton, Ouray, and Durango are all awesome towns worth visiting. We'll be camped closest to Silverton.

If anyone watched Olympic snowboarding and saw that Shawn White had a private half pipe they helicoptered him to everyday for training, it was in Silverton.

^^Yep, we'll be on that. That is one of several switchbacks. The other side of the edge is a non survivable fall. Practice, practice, practice with that clutch on hills.

With that being said, hundreds, or even thousands, of vehicles safely traverse Black Bear every year.

Also, Alex, be sure to get the feel of that clutch with the truck in 4lo because that's what we'll be using. It's probably a different feel than 4hi or 2hi.

I have been driving a manual since I was 16, and still stall out from time to time. I call it being lazy with the clutch.

4-lo os for sure a different feeling. I havent really used mine much until lately, and it does take some getting used to. It is a beast in 4-lo though.

I am up for wheeling 24/7, if thats what everyone else wants to do. I was at Target last night, and they had some of the big yellow glow sticks for a dollar. So I bought 20 of them. Not sure if they will serve any purpose, but I'm gonna put them in my trip box.

    OK, a little housekeeping here:

Please read this and also go back to the first post and check it. There are new things in a few different sections. These are a few highlights.

    1. In the "stuff you need/want" section I added a note for guys to relocate/remove their 7-pin plug that dangles down on the 2nd gen towing package. It will probably get ripped off if you don't. Mine did.

    2. It's been there all along but I wanted to reiterate one item on the list. That's the "trail gear (shovels, axes)" list. Please bring a shovel (a real one). If you saw my recent pictures, you'll see there is still patches of snow up in CO. Hopefully, it will be gone in 2 weeks but if it's not, we may have to break up some small sections to pass. Rock slides and wash outs are also common.

    3. There is a new sign up sheet on the first post highlighted in blue. Please let me know what you can contribute. We certainly don't need 10 people all lugging the same shit around if we only need a few. Also let me know if you need any loaners (small tent, camp chair, etc). I'll add it to the list. Somebody will have an extra. I, for example, have multiples of nearly everything. I'm sure other guys do too.

    Alright:

Put me down for a small charcoal grill, a bag of charcoal, I'll see if I can find my battery powered lantern.

I am also going grocery shopping for the basics. I am still planning on those burgers, some buns, chips, ketchup, drinks of some sort, and other snacks.

Let me know if there is anything else. I'll keep watching the list to see if anything is missed.
