I can bring a lantern, campstove (old and semi-reliable), and whatever firewood we need... Not sure if the burn ban will be in effect...

As far as headcount, it will be me and my German Shepherd and enough gear for the both of us... I have extra gear if anyone is in need...

I will probably be self-sufficient gear and food wise, but still enjoy meeting and hanging out with everyone...

Tested my skidplates last week, and they worked great... Put a ding in the rear driveshaft, but doesn't seem to vibrate... Working on sliders the next 2 weeks after work... Hope to get them done before the trip...

I'm pretty stoked for this trip... :D

I think it's about time for me to get some new skid plates. I took a look at mine the other day, and starting to get dinged up pretty good. I just have the stock skids. At least everything is protected.

I'm kind of hoping that I get to use my sliders this trip. Which I am pretty sure that I'll be able to.

Hey guys. I have a questions on rear shocks. Stock versus 5100's. I have spoke to Sonny at Down South and he said the 5100's give me 2 additional inces of droop. In your opinion is more droop a big deal? I have someone telling me more droop, and someone else telling me it's ok.

    Thoughts?

Um I still don't understand how they give you more droop. we measured them next to stock ones and they are the same length as stock. at least the 2nd gen ones were. the 5150s give you more droop because they use an eye to stud converter. But sunny knows more then I do so idk.

More droop allows a tire to reach farther down into a rut providing more traction and stability. Supposedly 5100's are longer at full extension that stock shocks.

That's what Sonny told me. Then someone else told me that I should get something with more droop, but not so sure I'll do that, or if that will work so well when pushed up. May bottom out way to soon.

    Thanks guys

Long shocks allow more droop but no more than the leaves will allow. If you go too long, they'll bottom out prematurely and you'll lose uptravel which is just as bad.

LOTS of wiring, dual battery setup, Solar charging system, with some random lights spread around here and there.
The ones that I just got allow for more droop but without limiting the leafs. I think more droop is great. It worked really well in the puerco the other day. So more droop is good but yeah if you go too long it will bottom the shocks before they get to the bumpstops.

We were actually thinking about putting in an additional 2" bumpstop. We were looking at 5125's. 4" extra of droop.

I fianally laid out my route, and trip. Looks like I'll try to leave here by 7:00 Am on Friday. That should put me in Farmington by 9:00pm. I am sure that I'll leave sooner that that though, out of excitement. Then leave no later than 12:00 on Monday. I figure about 16 hours back. Put me back in Fort Worth around 4:00 Am.

Thank goodness I have my Sirius hooked up.
