Damn, wish I still lived in Denver. I would be so in for the whole trip. Driving there from Louisiana might be a bit of a haul. I have done many of the trails around Durango and Silverton and it is sure to keep all happy. Ya'll have fun.

    Most Likely.

I think after we do our TW meet, I'm going to head north west. I have some unfinished business on Mt Blanca, or as we call it, La Montana de los Muertos.

A stock 4x4 can do most of the Colorado stuff. Poughkeepsie Gulch is the only real animal up there. Chokecherry Canyon in Farmington is a bad mother f'er though. It is capable of chewing up and spitting out rock buggies. Ground clearance, armor, and lockers are your only friends on the Cliffhanger trails. I've seen good drivers in full size armored/locked vehicles negotiate nasty stuff up here with no damage what so ever. As I've said, there are a lot of obstacles anyone can play around on though without hitting the trails. It looks like I may be able to set up some guides in Chokecherry. Listen to these guys, they know what they're talking about. This place is the real deal.

If you choose to do this, you can swap out at my house and leave the tires there until you're done so you don't have to tote them around on the trails.

It gets warm/hot during the day but can get downright cold at night. Farmington is at 5500 feet (maybe 90 degrees with little or no humidity). In Colorado we will be above 8,000 feet at the bases and 12,000-13,000 feet at the summits (probably never over 75-85 degrees with little or no humidity but it can freeze at night). Bring shorts, T-shirts, coats, gloves, and hats. You may and probably will see all weather conditions. Evening rain showers can show up even if they're not in the forecast. The big mountains follow a different set of rules.

If a lot of people are coming, I'd like to get a list of truck modifications and driver experience for the guides. Let me know about lifts, tires, armor, lockers, what you're willing to try, how much damage your willing to risk (scuffed bumpers ok?), and the size of your cajones. I may try to organize groups based on ability. Especially here in Farmington. I'll post this info on post #1.

LOTS of wiring, dual battery setup, Solar charging system, with some random lights spread around here and there.
So I have a 3in lift, 285 KM2's and am a pretty decent driver willing to try pretty much whatever. Not really willing to screw up my truck but I like trying what I can. I don't have lockers and only have the stock skid plate. Oh and I might have sliders by then.

I'll put Dom and Drew in the nasty group. It looks like my buddy Graham will be guiding you guys in his Lexus. Yeah, you read it right, he has a built Lexus (same as a Land Cruiser). He is a big fan of Waterfall. Start watching youtube vids of that one.

Jonathan, I've seen you drive and know you're competent but with your longbed and lack of lockers, I'll put you in a medium group. You'll still have plenty of opportunities to do things you'll later regret. I may be leading that one but who knows, we'll see.

We can all roll together in CO. I'll probably keep the terrain fairly difficult. Probably Black Bear out and Poughkeepsie Gulch back. Google those too.

I want people to be challenged at their truck's ability. The problems on your meet weren't caused by the presence of groups. They were caused by 2wd trucks in sand dunes. We do not have sand dunes here. Nobody should get too stuck. If they do it's on one particular obstacle and they shouldn't have to be winched more than 10 feet or so.

You shouldn't scrape too bad pulling into my driveway and parking. From there you should be able to jump into a passenger seat of a 4x4 without any problems. :)

Ride along with somebody. You'll stay very busy as a spotter on this trip.

Assuming you have camping gear, gas money should be nearly all of your expenses. If you roll smaller tires, bring the big boys and swap them out at my place. Bring the baddest truck you can feasibly put together. You'll have the opportunity to test out its limits here.

Please check out post #1. I've updated it throughout.

This is evolving into a hardcore wheeling trip. I'm happy with that so I'm encouraging this in the initial description and invitation.

I've started grouping you guys on the participant list.

Please re-read through the whole post. Let me know if you have any questions, comments, or updates on attendance status and/or mods.
