Ok got a call back. He says its a "speed sensor" up in the transmission area.... i asked ok a wheel speed sensor so, i understand theres 4 of them one on each wheel do you know which one it is? He said no theres only one and its in the transmission area. Part number 89543-04020

I looked up that part number and it looks like it is infact an ABS/wheel speed sensor like I thought.. idk??

Yea I'm just gonna pick the truck up and buy a scan tool. Maybe in the mean time my usual mechanic can check it out for me.

Nope. It wasn't defective, it was destroyed lol. So looks like its about 200 and change from autozone and 15 minute install.

Just for reference heres pics of the wheel speed sensor they're claiming is broken. You can't really see it outwardly broken but theres definitely alot more play than the other ones. 20181231_134225.jpg

Heres another shot from a few inches back to gi e you a better idea what you're looking at if you're unfamiliar

Yeah those things are scary how fragile they look with the other heavy duty stuff in the same area. I haven't had to replace one yet so look forward to hearing how it goes.

SO I guess a chunk/shard of ice flipped up there and bashed the sensor?

    Wow. That's unlucky AF.

Good to know, I'll have to look into a simple/cheap way to protect them the next time I'm under there (at least in the front).
